MesureIndex. décimale : 620.11 Matériaux (propriétés, résistance) Résumé : Due to the increasing use of composite materials in critical structural applications demanding a high strength-to-weight ratio, reliable evaluation tools are now more than ever necessary. Ultrasound is well known in the field of non-destructive testing and evaluation (NDTetE) and classical ultrasonic C-scan techniques have already proved their usefulness in visualizing defects, delaminations, etc. However, due to their inherent limitations in quantitative characterization, the quest for more sophisticated NDTetE methods to monitor complex damage mechanisms is a significant challenge in current research since one of the most critical degradation mechanisms of composite materials involves fatigue, which is associate with a localized reduction of the material stiffness. The very promising ultrasonic polar scan technique is investigated and discussed in this study. Textiles et tissus à usages techniquesIndex. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : The enormous growth in the utilization of electronic devices across the globe in various sectors like military, industrial, medical, etc. has generated a new form of pollution called electromagnetic interference (EMI) which cause the interference or malfunctioning of the electronic equipment and hampers its performance and functionality. Electromagnetic (EM) waves can also create health issues like cancer, headaches, sleep disordesr, brain tumors, fatigue, etc. This means there is a need to shield electronic devices. Development of EMI shield needs an understanding of EM waves, materials, the mechanism used, and measurement techniques. There are 2 types of shields: metal and textile, where metal shields suffer from various limitations which can be well addressed by the use of textile materials. The future EMI shield aims to achieve economy with comfortability which can drape to any desired shape and be manufactured with ease. Textile materials can offer these attributes as they are lightweight, durable, flexible, corrosion-resistant, comfortable, easy to cover, and cost-effective. ZwitterionsUn zwitterion (de l'allemand Zwitter — "hybride", "hermaphrodite » prononcé [t͜svɪtɛrjɔ̃]) est une espèce chimique moléculaire possédant des charges électriques formelles d’une unité, de signes opposés et situées en général sur des atomes non adjacents (dans le cas où les deux charges formelles sont portées par deux atomes adjacents, on parle d'ylures comme les ylures de phosphore). Les acides aminés, qui possèdent des groupements amine (sous forme d'ammonium NH3+ à pH =7) et acide carboxylique (sous forme de carboxylate COO- à pH =7) peuvent exister sous forme zwitterionique (à l'état solide, dans certaines gammes de pH en solution aqueuse) . Les bétaïnes sont d'autres exemples de zwitterions.Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The sulfonated cardo poly(aryl ether sulfone) with zwitterionic side groups (PES-DS-70) was electrospun to bead-free nanofibers. The PES-DS-70 nanoporous mat was successfully filled with Nafion solution. Scanning electron microscopy observed that the PES-DS-70/Nafion composite membrane has bilayer morphology and good interfacial compatibility. Compared with the neat PES-DS-70, the PES-DS-70/Nafion bilayer membranes showed improved swelling resistance and proton conductivity. Moreover, methanol crossover of the composite film was suppressed due to incorporation of the PES-DS-70 nanofibers. The tensile strength and Young's modulus for the PES-DS-70/Nafion composite membranes were higher than Nafion117. Therefore, the composite membrane with superior combined properties has potential applications for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. Over the past decade, metering precision has reached levels that were previously thought to be unobtainable. This is due in part to a better understanding of where errors in the metering process occur.
One of the areas found to be most problematic was hoses located downstream from the metering point. Hoses cause errors for many different reasons, but the underlying problem is the need to eliminate distance between the metering point and the dispensing point while remaining light and compact enough to be used in conjunction with a motion platform.Note de contenu : - Metering and dispensing types
