Therefore it is no surprise that the market of hair care products with a value of US$39 billion' is one of the most important sectors in the complete area of cosmetic products. Hair care products for women are the most frequently bought and used cosmetic products of ail. Shampoos and conditioners are leading the field. For men, hair care is the most important and favoured sector of ail cosmetics.
The well-known global players e.g. Procter & Gambie, l'Oréal, Unilever, Kao or Beiersdorf have to hold their ground in the different points of sale for hair care against the private brands of the big drugstore chains which are also quite well established.
The removal of oily or soil deposits from hair and scalp is of course the common denominator for all hair cleansing products. However, all kinds of other claims go along with hair care products; some are adapted from skin care, e.g. 'herbal & botanical', some are more malter of fact e.g. 'relieves scalp itch', 'anti-friz/frizz control', 'antistatic' or 'removes oil' and some are rather dramatic, like 'ressues hair from dullness' or 'fights dandruff'. The fastest growing claim is 'brightening and illuminating'. Almost half of the newly launched hair care products are advertised with this daim. In 2010 it was only 21% and, in 2014 this had grown to 46% of new products.Note de contenu : - Hair and scalp parameters

The matter of hair care/grooming is not all about women. For men, a well-kept, thick head of hair brings added good looks.
However, there is more to it. Nowadays, social media, most of all Instagram, influences different generations. Besides skin, hair is the characteristic attribute for health, youth attraction. Hair can even be a communication and political instrument. Just take as an example the men who grow a moustache of their own style every November, the so called November, to raise funds for men's health. Plenty of products and treatments are ready to fit the modern hair care market for thin, thick, curly, dry, oily, blonde, coloured ethnic, young, or old hair. Imagine a claim, the product is already inveted. As hair is unique, personalised products flood the hair care market. Respectively, a great number of claims around the various products exists. Hair care rituals can be complemented with food supplements and treatment devices.Note de contenu : - Tests on hair tresses : Sebum on hair & scalp

VieillissementIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : So, altogether a number of claims for the nails can be objectively measured. The effect of nail hardeners, nail polish and the properties of various types of artificial nails can be easily demonstrated with the new Nail StrainStress Meter. Other claims could be restructuringand re-densifying of the nails by certain food supplements.
Projective products could be evaluated by measuring the evaporation rate of the water. Also, the TOWL measurement could be used to show that nail polish remover, the glue from an artificial nail or other aesthetic nail treatments do not damagethe nail.
Fields of application for the assessment of nail gloss and colour are obvious, and not only restricted to the evaluation of applied nail polish. Such measurement can also be used to show the effects of withening products and mechanical polish.
Even in medical conditions like nail fungus, the measurement of nail thickness could give an indication of the effect of treatment with anti-fungal medication. As also other skin diseases can extend to the nails, the oblective measurement of the nail condition can be used to offer additionalinformation about the overall improvement by medical treatment.
And why not try to test whether my anti-ageing hand cream does not also improve the condition of my fingernails? There are no limits to new claims created around nail care that can be proven with these new methods.Note de contenu : - Structural strengh/firmness
