VisageIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Objectif : La texture de la peau est une structure fine de la surface de la peau où les collines et sillons ont été croisés pour former une forme d'étoile. Cette étude a été réalisée pour établir une méthode d'évaluation quantitative de la texture de la peau affectée par le vieillissement à l'aide de répliques d'images de la joue.
Methodes : Après avoir produit des répliques des domaines de la joue gauche des 80 sujets féminins, les répliques représentatives ont été retenues pour établir l'indice à six niveaux de texture de la peau du visage. En utilisant ce nouvel indice, la texture de la peau de sujets d'âge différents a été évaluée visuellement par plusieurs examinateurs. Le nombre de configurations en étoile a également été analysée en utilisant les mêmes images des répliques. D'autres facteurs qui contribuent à la texture de la peau, tels que l'élasticité de la peau, la rugosité, la densité dermique, l'humidité et la brillance ont été également analysés.
Resultats : La concordance entre les scores de la texture de la peau évalués par trois chercheurs était élevée (0.896) et il y avait une forte corrélation entre le score de la texture de la peau et de l'âge (r = 0.642). Le nombre de configurations en étoile a montré une forte corrélation avec les scores de la texture de la peau (r = 0.753) et l'âge (r = 0.776). Les scores de texture de la peau sont en forte corrélation avec la rugosité de la peau et de la densité dermique, mais pas avec l'humidité, la brillance et l'élasticité.

Séquençage des acides nucléiquesIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : - Background : There are trillions of live bacteria, of around 1000 different species, living in human skin which are considered essential for the balance and barrier function of the skin. The gut microbiome has been a subject of extensive research and evidence shows that the gut flora is affected by preservatives and processed foods. In conventional skincare, preservatives are used, and this raises the question of how it affects the skin flora and its balance.
- Methods : A randomized double-blind study on 14 healthy volunteers ages 23–45 years old were advised to use microbiome-supporting (MS) products on one cheek and benchmark (BM) products on the other cheek daily for 3 weeks. To investigate how the skin was affected, the skin microbiome was analysed using 16 S rRNA sequencing and biophysical parameters were assessed using an Antera 3D camera. Measurements were performed before and after the 3 weeks of using the products.
- Results : The use of MS products for 3 weeks significantly increased the total number of reads mapped to unique bacterial species (p < 0.05) and the number of different unique species (p < 0.05). In addition, the use of MS products significantly reduced redness (p < 0.05) and improved skin texture (p < 0.01). The use of BM products showed no significant difference in any of the parameters except improved skin texture (p < 0.05). Additionally, the MS side showed a significantly improved diversity (p < 0.05) compared with the BM side. The four major phyla found were, similarly to previous findings by others, Actinobacteria, Firmicutes, Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes. Some of the most prevalent species were Cutibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Pseudonomas aeruginosa.
- Conclusion : The findings of this study showed significant improvements in the microbiome and biophysical parameters within 3 weeks of using MS skincare alone, while BM skincare only gave significantly improved skin roughness. Importantly, the MS side gave a significantly improved bacterial Shannon diversity (p < 0.05) compared with the BM side. Regarding the biophysical parameters, the MS skincare gave significant improvements in several parameters compared with baseline. However, they were not yet significant when compared to using BM skincare and therefore a larger study population will be needed. Importantly, this is the first study to investigate how preservatives affect the facial microbiome in vivo and has raised a need for further investigation. With this in mind, quality assessment recommendations have to encourage company staff to act responsibly toward humans and the environment in product development and manufacture. They also serve consumers who can expect efficient, safe and environmentally sound products. The recommendations describe which qualities are relevant to a given product and how such qualities can be measured. It should be noted that every finished product has a certain efficacy spectrum in its intended use; this spectrum is largely determined by consumer expectations as to each individual quality characteristic - so that in each product some characteristics are deliberately emphasised while others will be less important. Moreover, the desired combination of product properties is subject to constant change, depending on the latest technical possibilities and new consumer habits. Quality assessment recommendations must not impair such developments. Consequently, for each product only one overall result is valid to determine whether the product meets the quality recommendations or not. They are applied on larger, painted body components and can be classified in accordance with Diagram 1 in respect of their polishing, paint conditioning and cleaning properties in a product group triangle. The considered product groups differ in terms of these properties. The boundaries between the product groups are fluid in accordance with the representation in Diagram 1 and are partly only determined by the application concentration of certain ingredients.
According to Table 1, the following typical ingredients and assessment criteria can be assigned to the three properties or corners of the product group triangle in Diagram 1.
The paint surfaces are usually two-component paint systems which are used in the automotive industry. The products are applied as a rule with an application medium (e.g. sponge, cloth).
The paint surfaces are heavily exposed to daily strains and soiling and are usually cleaned prior to the application of the above-mentioned three product groups (paint cleaner, paint conditioner, paint polish) e.g. by a car wash (car shampoo). The three product groups (paint cleaner, paint conditioner, paint polish) are as a rule used for value preservation and optical upgrading of the paint surfaces and differ in terms of composition of the ingredients and proper use. The products are commercially available in bottles, tubes or glass jars, tin cans or plastics boxes or other containers as well as in other presentations.
