In many areas the voltages increase, especially for electrical vehicles. Therefore, it is interesting to know what the real limits of isolating materials are. These are considerably higher. To test these, a modified test set-up is necessary.
Note de contenu : - Standard measurement setup prevents tests
- High CTI thanks to glass fibers
- CTI measured according to IEC 60112
- Fig. 1 : The creepage distance, i.e. the shortest distance between two conductive parts along the surface is usually longer than the air gap, the shortest distance between two conductive parts
- Fig. 2 : At over 600V, the measurement setupprovided by the standard causes a short circuit through the air. For this reason, the electrodes were turned by 180° for the tests

Transparence (optique)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Amorphous polyamides are particularly suited for demanding optical applications such as displays, filter housings or sight glasses. They are transparent, and thanks to their improved resistance, they are also in demand for other application areas. Moreover, a recently developed recipe permits transparent glass fiber-reinforced components to be produced. Note de contenu : - Gearshift knob with piano-lacquer look

Vis d'extrusion simpleIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : This paper is a technical report about the structure and the rheological behaviour of processed polypropylene-glass fibre composites. The present studies has been carried out as a part of the international project on the Characterization of Finite Length Composites initiated and organized by the IUPAC Working Party : Structure and Properties of Commercial Polymers. Seven industrial and university laboratories in Europe and in USA worked together in a common project to investigate the influence of the processing conditions on the rheology and manufacturing behaviour of polymer-glass composites preprocessed in a twin screw extruder. All investigations presented concern the influence of the processing procedure on the structure of the composites such as fiber length destribution, fiber orientation, distribution of the fibre concentration in the sample and the rheology of the composites. The flow behaviour dependent on the processing conditions has been measured using capillary rheometers to investigate the viscosity functions, the entrance and outlet pressures losses as well as for observations of the shape and internal structure of extruded composites. Torsional rheometers for low shear rate, oscillatory and transient viscosity behaviour and for the quantification of fibre orientation with ongoing shear process. Additionaly queeze flow experiments are made.
Most laboratories used analogous recording sytems to documente the primary experimental results. So results are partially given here as direct copies from the original data readings. The different data handling and the transfer of data from laboratory to laboratory for comparison of results leads sometimes to unavoidable inhomogeneous (due to the style and possibilities of the different laboratories) presentation of the results. The present report is a result of data collecting, data comparison and documentation of results over a period of nearly ten years.Note de contenu : - PROCESSING PROCEDURE

Traction (mécanique)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Laser-welded joints were prepared using moldings of polycarbonate, polyamide-6, and polyamide-6 reinforced with 30% glass fibers. Preparation of thin polished samples of the joints facilitated examination of the laser-affected zone (LAZ). The samples were examined using optical and polarized light microscopy, as well as scanning electron microscopy. The study evaluated the influence of laser power on the geometry and dimensions of LAZ, in both the absorbent and non-absorbent parts of the joints. The results indicated a correlation between LAZ dimensions and the tensile strength of the laser-welded joints. There is evidence of melt and fiber migration in the LAZ.
