ThermodurcissablesIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Polymer composite materials can help to substantially reduce the weight and hence the CO₂ emissions of future automobiles. Epoxy resins, the preferred matrix choice for structural composites in today's aerospace and wind turbine industries, were once believed not to be a viable solution for automotive mass markets due to long processing times. However, recent advances in epoxy matrix technology have made significant strides toward low-cost production of composite components. Traction (mécanique)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The growing quantity of components made from carbon-fiber-reinforced composites is giving rise to valuable scrap. To recycle these secondary fibers, the possibility of processing them into wet-laid nonwovens was investigated. The resulting nonwovens of suitable areal weight can be processed by the RTM process into composites with high tensile strength for thin-walled components. Simulation par ordinateurIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Resin transfer moulding (RTM) is one of the most prevalent processes available today in composite product manufacturing since it can reduce production time and produce high-strength fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) parts. In addition, sandwich structures made of multilayer fibre mats with core material(s) have been a prominent design for wind turbine blades and aircraft part manufacturing in order to further strengthen the structural properties of FRP parts. Thus, the following study intends to gain a comprehensive understanding of using a sandwich structure design in the resin transfer moulding (RTM) process. Note de contenu : - FIGURES : 1. Pales d'éoliennesIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Sandwich structures have been widely used in recent years in wind turbine blades and aircraft part manufacturing to further strengthen the structural properties of parts. The study described in this paper presents an analytical system application used to predict the resin transfer moulding (RTM) process, focusing of the simulations and applications of a sandwich structure design. It is expected that this study will help clarify some relevant issues and that advanced 3D simulation technology will make it possible to gain an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the resin transfer moulding (RTM) process in order to reduce trial-and-error and material wastage.
