Revêtements -- Additifs:Peinture -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Each latex paint formulator, both experienced and novice, has encountered various kaolins in start point formulations, which are usually an additional filler, as a titanium dioxide substitution, sheen and gloss modifier of paints in the middle range of pigment volume concentration, or simply as an additional filler present in a formulation without indicating its special property to be added to it. For the latter reason, usually formulators of latex paints, not having sufficiently presented benefits of using a specific kaolin in the formulation, decide to replace it with other types of kaolin. Often, such a substitution is dictated by economic decisions, as the kaolin present in the stripe formulation may be more expensive than the one currently available for the production of current latex paints or requires an order as it has not been used in a given paint factory so far. Often, the lack of appropriate case studies showing the benefits of using this particular kaolin result in modification of the starting recipe in the direction of deteriorating the properties of the coatings, e.g. in terms of opacity, sheen and gloss, etc. Of course, such modifications are carried out mostly unconsciously, because the formulator intends to replace it with a different kaolin, which is assumed to be a similar kaolin that is currently used in production recipes. Encre -- Séchage sous rayonnement ultraviolet
Encre d'imprimerieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The new generation of hybrid inks helps the small commercial printer offer faster turn-around as they allow both printing and varnishing to be completed in a single pass.
The new generation of hybrid inks has become available that enables high gloss in-line varnishing to be carried-out immediately following multicolour printing. These inks represent a hybrid between conventional and UV curing that utilise both drying mechanisms. The UV component of the formulation allows the ink to be sufficiently set such that a 100% UV curing over-varnish can be applied immediately.
An optimised process can give very high gloss levels almost approaching that of 100% all UV with the minimal reduction in gloss level or 'gloss-back' on final drying. Hybrid inks offer an entry-level for the smaller commercial printer to add inline varnishing to their operations at relatively low cost and provide their customers with a faster-turn around as both printing and varnishing are completed in a single pass.Note de contenu : - Drying mechanisms

Dioxyde de titane -- Suppression ou remplacement
Kaolin
Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This paper discusses TiO2 extension using calcined Neuburg Siliceous Earth as a partial replacement, leading to higher gloss and spreading rate. Novel technologies, which consist of hydrolyzed rice protein, Adansonia digitata seed extract, and Amaranthus caudatus seed extract, was specifically designed to overcome pollution in hair and to increase shine and moisturization of hair fibres damaged from UV radiation. Findings show that through SEM/EDS analysis, these hydrolyzed proteins significantly shield from external pollutants of calcium and aluminum in virgin Chinese and Indian hair fibres. Hair moisturization, measured by water vaporization content, was increased by 24.15 % and visible improvement in shine was observed by 9.18 % of the UV damaged, Caucasian hair fibres after application.
