Marking paints for pavement surfaces used in roads, airfields and parking lots have been around for over 80 years but the technology has changed dramatically over that time. There has been a shift from the early days of oil-modified phenolformadehyde resins to alkyds, chlorinated rubber and solvent-based acrylics to today's more environmentally advanced and higher performing waterborne acrylic traffic paints. The binder breakthough which enabled the widespread use of waterborne paints was the invention of a pH triggered, quick set mechanism for faster drying waterborne paints, espacially under high humidity and low air flow conditions. Waterborne polymers continue to advance in terms of adhesion to surfaces and retention of reflective beads for night visibility.
More recent progress has enable the application of waterborne pavement marking paints under near freezing temperatures. Reflective beads have advanced along with the paint binder, providing waterborne pavement marking systems with significantly improved visibility on wet surfaces. The environment, employee safety and road safety all stand to benefit from the continuing improvements in waterborne pavement marking.Note de contenu : - Pavement marking function

Meanwhile, structural characterisation, optimisation of adsorption conditions, isotherm adsorption and adsorption kinetics were critically investigated through experiments and detection techniques. XRD analysis showed that the crystallinity of peanut shells decreased significantly after microwave pretreatment. FTIR analysis testified that carboxyl groups and ester groups were successfully introduced into the structure of maleic acid modified peanut shells (MMPS). The results of orthogonal test and single factor experiments indicated that pH value had the greatest effect on Cr(VI) adsorption process. Moreover, the Cr(VI) adsorption rate (CrAR) reached the maximum value of 99.3 % under the optimal condition (MMPS dosage: 6g, adsorption time: 45 minutes, pH3, adsorption temperature: 80°C, Cr(VI) initial concentration: 30mg/L), which was much higher than that of unmodified peanut shells. The adsorption behaviour conformed to quasi-second-order kinetic equation and Langmuir isothermal adsorption model, and the adsorption was dominated by monolayer.
Séparation (technologie)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : To explore the new approach of value-added utilization of tannery skin wastes, a novel column packing material, collagen fibre adsorbent (CFA), was prepared by using skin wastes as raw material. In the present study, the separation application of CFA on flavonoids and its comparison with other current packing materials (silica gel, polyamide, D101 macroporous resin and Sephadex LH-20) were investigated. Rutin and kaempferol were selected as model flavonoids. Static adsorption indicated that the adsorption capacity of CFA to rutin and kaempferol was different, and the extent of adsorption of kaempferol was lower because it has fewer hydroxyl groups/hydrogen-bond reaction sites. In CFA column chromatography separation, the mixture of rutin and kaemoferol could be well separated by stepwise elution with 90% and 50% aqueous ethanol solutions, and their recoveries were 90.02% and 94.60%, respectively.
However, in comparison with CFA, rutin and kaempferol could not be well separated and recovered by using silica gel, polyamide and D101 macroporous resin columns. In addition, the cost of CFA is much lower, especially compared with Sephadex LH-20. Therefore, CFA has the potential to be applied as a packing material for separation of flavonoids.Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Materials and equipments - Preparation of CFA - Static adsorption capability of CFA

Tannage Résumé : The study was conducted regarding the recovery of chromium(III) from chrome tanning wastewater by precipitation and adsorption processes. The adsorption was conducted with a spherical sulfonic lignin adsorbent, denoted as SSLA and the factors affecting the precipitation and adsorption as well as desorption were comprehensively discussed. The recovery reached 91.6% by applying 12.0g/L of sodium hydroxide as precipitant, 25mg/L of cationic polyacrylamide as flocculant and 3.0g/g Cr of H2SO4 as solution medium. The adsorption of chromium(III) from the supernatant liquid with SSLA has been found to be initially pH andconcentration dependent aided by higher adsorption temperature which helps to improve the adsorption capacity of SSLA. The breakthrough adsorption capacity of SSLA is 63.5mg/g, and the saturated adsorption capacity is 76.3mg/g.
Moreover, the chromium(III) adsorbed on SSLA can be recovered with 1.0mol/L H2SO4 solution, the recovery is approximately 99.6%. It has been proved from the cost analysis that the recovery of chromium(III) from the chrome tanning wastewater by precipitation and adsorption processes is a promising and economically feasible technique.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Materials - Intrumentation - Preparation of SSLA adsorbent - Precipitation treatment - Adsorption/Desorption treatment
