PolypropylèneIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Compounds - Glass fiber reinforced plastics (GRP) have so far been valued for their mechanical strength. But other criteria such as the weight, price, and climate compatibility of a material are also becoming increasingly important. This is where natural fiber reinforced plastics can offer advantages. A comparison with GRP shows their potential. Note de contenu : - Compound production and testing
- Cellulose fibers save weight
- Commercially promising material
- Positive effect on climatePermalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=17244

Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 677 Textiles Résumé : Textile wet processing such as dyeing adds value to the apparel, but has the potential to cause significant environmental and human health impacts. Fabrics made from Lenzing Modal Color fibers (spun-dyed fibers by Lenzing AG, Lenzing/Austria) can reduce these impacts significantly. Here, the environ-mental performance of spun-dyed Lenzing black modal fabrics will be shown versus conventionally dyed black modal fabrics made in Austria. A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) was conducted, from the production of wood to the stage of dyed and finished fabric. The overall production of spun-dyed Lenzing Modal Color fabric has 50% lower energy use, 600/0 lower carbon footprint, requires only 50% of water and has significantly louver (40-60%) environmental impacts compared to conventionally dyed fabric. Just considering the wet processing stages, cumulative energy use and carbon footprint is around 800/0 lower, and water use is 640/0 louver. This improved environmental performance of spun-dyed fabric can contribute to business value creation such as significantly reducing production costs for value chain actors, helps reducing the environmental footprint of end products, enhances reputation of brands and retailers, and can contribute to mitigating global problems such as climate change and resource scarcity while catering to the rising demand for clothing fuelled by ever growing world population. Produits et matériaux recyclésIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Construction has a considerable impact on the climate: the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change estimates that cement production generates three billion tons of CO2 every year. Ecological building materials and decarbonization of concrete production only provide either partial or long-term relief. One promising alternative is the use of plastic: GS Kunststofftechnik produces hollow bodies made of recycled polypropylene in an injection molding process for Unidome Deutschland GmbH, which replace up to 40 percent of concrete in building ceilings. Note de contenu : - Hollow plastic bodies save a lot of CO2
- The displacers make construction lighter, more stable and cheaper
