Propriété intellectuelleIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : At the recent Association Pour l'Assurance Qualité des Fabricants De Bracelets Cuir (AQC) multi-stakeholder meeting held in November 2022, one of the topics discussed was the use of life cycle assessment (LCA) by retailers and brands.
The fundamental reason why a company would want to do an LCA is simple. The LCA can give a company an understanding of what environmental ipacts occur during normal operation (as a whole company) or it can drill down into the individual implications of what production coices have on the overall impacts of a product. Specific product impact values can be communicated to end-users or brands to help with their procurement decision-making.
As an internal tool, knowing the specific values for a specific product can be highly beneficial. The creation of low-carbon or lower impact products will result in more sustainable companies. Obviously, the marketability of these lower impact products is higher. Consumers seem to progressively want lower impact products and are actively making decisions against high impact products.Note de contenu : - Life-cycle assessment types and accuracy

At the component design stage it is crucial to use only as much material as needed for optimum product performance. Topology optimization plays a vital role here because, as the key to lightweight construction, it simplifies the selection of sustainable design alternatives. Responsabilité environnementaleIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of ambitious objectives to mobilise efforts to end poverty,to smaller, marginalised groups who might not otherwise have access. ensure peace and prosperity, and safeguard the planet and humanity. As an interwoven framework, these objectives have a bearing on diverse aspects of personal care industry operations.
In this article, we will use the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) framework to spotlight environmental, economic and social dimensions for companies to consider at each life-cycle stage. We will demonstrate how activities can positively impact SDGs or at least minimise negative impacts, and examine how personal care companies are integrating sustainability into everyday operations and across functions.
It is important to note that this is not a full LCA, as such examinations are typically conducted on individual products in a more comprehensive manner. However, we find the LCA a useful framework to explain how different life-cycle phases may impact sustainability, to show how actions can reverberate throughout the life-cycle, and to demonstrate that when efforts coalesce, sustainability can strengthen competitiveness, protect the environment, and lead to a better quality of life for all.Note de contenu : - Design

This study examined the environmental impact, based on life cycle analysis (LCA), of powder formulations that include two primer surfacers (a) acrylic and (b) polyester and compared them with a polyester solventborne primer. LCA is based on industrial ecology principles, taking into account all energy and materials flows throughout the production, use and end of life of a product. For the materials production, we have obtained energy and emissions information from paint manufacturers, literature and patents. A complete life cycle analysis of the materials was carried out using commercial state of the art software considering national average electricity production. The analysis evaluates omissions from the production of materials on a per kilogram basis as well as per vehicle application. Note de contenu : - LCA of the materials

ProductionIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Leather industry is facing new trends on production and consumption patterns due to society concerns. Circular economy is proposing a transition from the current economic model to a more sustainable one, in which waste is designed out and resources will be reused and recycled as long as possible. In this transition, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is an important tool to help decision-making. In the present review, 39 English-written peer-reviewed papers related to LCA and leather have been found, 30 of which were published in the last 6 years, meaning LCA is nowadays an important subject. Papers are presented within 4 types, focused on: 1) the whole leather production process, 2) a single step in the production process (e.g, new technologies for unhairing), 3) waste treatment and recycling, and 4) life cycle thinking with ideas on long-term strategies for leather industries. As discussed in the literature review, leather industry has important challenges to address: increasing sustainability and transparency on the supply chain, and strengthening the beauty of leather. Taking up these challenges from a life cycle perspective will help leather industry flourish in the coming future. Note de contenu : - Details on LCA methodology
