It was first isolated in 2004 using simple mechanical exfoliation of graphite. Graphene sheets are two-dimensional, one-atom-thick layers of sp2-bonded carbon atoms connected in a hexagonal, honey-comb-like pattern. Graphene has found applications in almost all the areas such as advanced batteries and transistors, solar cells, displays, sensors, and composites. In coatings, graphene by itself as a coating material or as an additive for improving the performance of various coating technologies is an emerging area. Graphene based coating have applications in corrosion resistant coatings, flame retardant coatings, wear/scratch resistant coatings, anti-fouling coatings, pollutant adsorption coatings, anti-septic coatings etc. ej. Besides, graphene-based corrosion protection coatings, the super- hydrophobicity of graphene has also been exploited. Also, there are many possible applications for conductive graphene coatings. The effects of UV ageing on the flame retardancy, thermal stability and mechanical properties of LGFPP/IFR composites are investigated and discussed by limiting oxygen index (LOI), UL–94 test, cone calorimeter test (CCT), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), mechanical properties and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX). A slight variation in LOI values and UL-94 levels are observed, and CCT results display a lower heat release rate for all aged samples. The TGA result also shows that aged samples have a higher degradation temperature with the prolongation of the aging time. EDAX showed higher content of the O, P and N elements on the surface of samples after 600 h ageing, which means partly gathering of IFR particles. The tensile, bending and impact strengths decrease after ageing, and the fracture morphology shows that interface debonding occurs. Titre : The enhanced surface properties of geopolymer inorganic coatings by adding with MgO Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Xueting Liu, Auteur ; Ying Fan, Auteur ; Yuan Li, Auteur ; Wenkui Liu, Auteur ; Jingjing Wu, Auteur ; Changming Liu, Auteur ; Bin Yang, Auteur ; Zhicheng Pang, Auteur Année de publication : 2022 Article en page(s) : p. 947-957 Note générale : Bibliogr.

Revêtements inorganiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This paper mainly studies an inorganic coating based on geopolymer technology. Metakaolin is used as raw material, and water glass solution is used as alkali activator to prepare geopolymer. The surface properties including crack resistance and scrub resistance of the obtained coating were improved by adding certain amount of resin and fillers such as silicone acrylic emulsion, mica powder, and MgO powder. The results show that when the contents of silicone acrylic emulsion, mica powder, and MgO powder are 19.00%, 3.20%, and 2.16–2.86%, respectively, the surface properties of the coating are optimal. Especially noteworthy is that adding MgO can enhance the surface properties of the prepared coating, the mechanism of which can be rationalized by the inhibited shrinkage of the coating via microcrack deformation, the enhanced compactness and the filled pores of the coating upon adding MgO. In addition, the flame retardancy of the samples was explored through thermal analysis and cone calorimeter.
Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Two products derived from the lactic acid manufacturing process - polylactide (PLA) and dehydrated gypsum - can be melt blended with selected additives to produce high-performance (nano)composites. Revêtements protecteurs -- DétériorationIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The protective effects of a topcoat on an intumescent fire-retardant coating were studied under hydrochloric acid solution corrosion, accelerated UV aging and natural weathering. The protective effects were determined to be appreciable under all the aging conditions. During hydrochloric acid corrosion testing, the coating sample without the topcoat exhibited no fire resistance after immersion for 48 h. When a topcoat was used, the acid solution could not directly corrode the fire-retardant coating. However, the solution was observed to seep into the coating layer from the edges, demonstrating that special attention must be paid to the edges and corners to avoid the pollution source corroding the coating and substrate. Under the accelerated UV aging conditions, the fire-resistant properties of the unprotected coating deteriorated significantly after 20 days of aging due to the hydrolysis and photooxidation of the components. However, the coating with a topcoat exhibited better fire-proof properties, even after 40 days of aging. During the natural weathering process, the fire resistance of the coating without a topcoat significantly decreased after being exposed to the high levels of precipitation and UV radiation that occur during summer. The fire-resistant properties were completely lost after 1 year of aging exposure. However, the protected sample exhibited no distinct changes in the duration of fire resistance. The results of this study remind engineering personnel to pay attention to the deterioration of the coating properties and to take protection measures. Despite slightly decreasing the fire resistance performance and increasing the cost, the protective effect of the topcoat was remarkable. Therefore, a compatible topcoat is considered indispensable for fire-retardant coatings used outdoors to ensure the best long-term fire resistance performance.
