Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : A dyebath containing left-over CI Acid Red 249 after dyeing of wool was completely decolorised using an isolated bacteria Bacillus flexus. Optimisation was carried out by varying the pH, temperature, dye concentration, and microbial loading. Complete decolorisation of a 50 mg l?1 dye solution was achieved in 8 h at pH 7 and 37 °C with 10% v/v loading of the bacteria. The decolorised bath was utilised for dyeing of wool fabric with the same dye at 5% shade. This cycle of dyeing–decolorising–dyeing was repeated 5 times. The evaluation of dyed fabric was done using K/S, colour values, and fastness to light and washing. Comparison of a sample dyed with the conventional exhaust process showed that the dyeing quality is not affected for all five successive reuse cycles. The results are important from the viewpoint of reducing water consumption and chemicals. Solutions aqueuses (chimie)Index. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Effluent generated by the textile industry can be highly coloured. Before the waste is disposed into receiving waters, colour removal is an important consideration. Because of their complex molecular structures, dyes present in the textile wastewater are not removed easily by conventional wastewater treatment processes. They are fairly stable to light, as well as heat, and resist biodegradation, thus posing a challenge to conventional physico-chemical and biological treatment methods. Although adsorption technology using activated carbon has been considered to be an effective and proven technology, it has its limitations as it is expensive and necessitates regeneration. As cost is an important consideration in most developing countries, efforts have been made to explore the possibility of using various low-cost alternatives that are biodegradable, abundant, readily available, and are derived from waste materials. This article is a compilation of the investigations carried out by numerous researchers (from 2002 onwards) on the effective use of different kinds of low-cost adsorbents for the removal of specific dyes from textile wastewater.
- Il est peu soluble dans l'eau (13 à 20 g·l-1 à 20 °C) ;
- Il est miscible avec la plupart des solvants organiques ;

Volumétrie (chimie analytique)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The content of free fatty acids was investigated by qualitative and quantitative methods. The cable-extraction method was used to test six different types of leather sample in which the dichloromethane was as extraction agent. After the extract was methyl esterified it was again extracted by petroleum ether. Then the colour and titration method were used to quantitatively analyse the extract. Meantime, the effect of different decolourisation ways on the quantitative analysis was studied. The properties of extraction products were characterized by GC-MS. The results show that the main components of free fatty acids in leather are oleic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid and some linoleic acid. When the level of ethanol in the decolourising solution is 80% to 85% the effect is, overall, better. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Materials and apparatus

Textiles et tissusIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Light fastness tests conducted on several areas of a light-sensitive material may sometimes show inconsistent fading rates. These different fading behaviours suggest that colorants are not evenly distributed over the substrate surface or may be attributed to texture variations of the material. A mathematical model has been developed to help explain these discrepancies. Micro-fade testing, a relatively novel technique, has allowed microspectroscopic detection of variations in the initial colour parameters of a sample, permitting assessment of its diverging fading rates. The method has been applied to fading data of various light-sensitive materials resulting in more consistent fading patterns. It has been demonstrated that micro-fading curves obtained for the same material are related by a constant value, which is the ratio of adjusted values of time and ΔE*.
