Ions métalliquesIndex. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : SeaCell fibers (cellulose fibers with seaweed extracts by smartfiber AG, Rudolstadt/germany) were treated with aqueous copper chloride solution to prepare copper containing fibers. Experimental results showed that because of the alginate rich seaweed particles dispersed in the fiber structure, SeaCell fibers have good absorption properties for copper ions, with the equilibrium absorption capacity for copper ion at about 7 mg/g. The absorption of copper ion by SeaCell fibers is a relatively fast process, with most of the absorption completed within 30 min. It is possible to prepare SeaCell fibers containing different amounts of copper ions by controlling the copper ion concentration in the treatment solution.

Vêtements de sportIndex. décimale : 677.46 Cellulosiques : rayonnes, acetates Résumé : The purpose of this article is to investigate the feasibility and compatibility of cellulosic fiber content in particular Birla Modal of the Aditya Birla Group, and knit structure of fabric comparative to reference market sportswear garments. Infusing cellulosic fiber into sportswear helps in further reduction of carbon footprint in the environment and up-scales the sustainability. Various comparative knit fabrics and yarns which impart value addition in sportswear were developed. The present study examines union blend of hydrophobic/hydrophilic 60/40 with pleating as well as single jersey knit fabric for better moisture management and comfort which is a primary requisite in sportswear applications. The leaves and bark that are by products of the responsibly farmed eucalyptus used in the manufacture of lyocell fibres were extracted with water to provide a source of natural colour. Lyocell fabric, which required minimal preparation, was screen printed with an aqueous paste containing only the extracted colour and a natural thickener to provide attractive golden-yellow prints. The printed fabrics demonstrated surprisingly good fastness towards light, washing and rubbing. A mordanting pretreatment of the lyocell with alum modified the colour of the naturally coloured prints to become stronger and duller, but provided no advantage in terms of technical performance. The outcome presents a potentially useful model for the development of sustainably coloured fashion textile products. Note de contenu : - Material
