The photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy spectroscopy (EDS) and thermo-gravimetric analyzing (TGA) were used to test the changes of elements including their relative contents and thermal properties of lyocell fiber before and after flame-retardant treatment. In addition, the changes in density and fineness of lyocell fibers were also tested to characterize their morphological structure further. The results show that the flame-retardant lyocell fiber contains the characteristic elements of flame retardant, which proves that the flame retardant is successfully added into the fiber, and results in a significant increase in both linear density and density. The amount of carbon remaining in the treated fiber increased significantly, proving the improved flame-retardancy. |
