ZincIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A series of Zn2+ based hydrophobic coordination polymers (CPs) have been synthesized by varying methylene spacers length (m = 1 to m = 6) of aliphatic dicarboxylic acids followed by reaction with the zinc acetate by using hydrothermal method. The synthesized CPs were coated on the mild steel (MS) specimens to investigate the effect of methylene spacers length of dicarboxylic acids on hydrophobicity and corrosion behavior. The synthesized CPs and their coatings on MS have been characterized by various instrumental techniques such as Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM), water contact angle (WCA) measurements. FTIR and PXRD measurements confirm the formation of CPs whereas the FE-SEM images of suberic acid polymer (SUAP) reveal compact distribution of sphere-like aggregates. WCA measurements showed that the bare MS including CPs coatings on MS up to methylene spacers length m = 4 is hydrophilic in nature; however, the coating of longest methylene spacers length CP (SUAP, m = 6) showed hydrophobic nature with water contact angle of ~ 108.6°. Furthermore, the obtained hydrophobic SUAP CP with polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) as binder was coated on MS to study its anticorrosion behavior for the protection of MS. The anticorrosion performance of the developed SUAP coating was investigated by open-circuit potential (OCP) and potentiodynamic polarization techniques. The corrosion rate has been calculated from potentiodynamic polarization curves for the bare MS and SUAP coated MS showed significant improvement in the anticorrosion behavior of the developed SUAP coating. PolyuréthanesIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : A new set of proprietary brush-type polyurethanes (Intercoshine family) with aliphatic side chains based on alkyl tartrate diol in a mixture of cosmetically accepted organic solvent (e.g. isododecane, ethanol) has been synthesised in a mixture of volatile aliphatic solvents accepted in cosmetic (isododecane and ethanol).
The composition of the polymers was varied, by changing the diisocyanate building block (IPDI and HDI) and the diol combined with the branched aliphatic allryl tartrate and three different polyurethanes, namely Intercoshine, Intercoshine Flex and Intercoshine Sil, were obtained.
Mechanical tests, gloss measurements and water contact angle were performed. The polymers here presented can generate extremely glossy and hydrophobic films, with elastic and adhesion properties that can be varied according to the properties of the nature of the building blocks and the composition.
Intercoshine polymers can be used as film-formers in anhydrous formulations (eg. lip fluid, eyeliner) or in W/0 and W/S emulsions conferring at the same time an extreme long-lasting and a very glossy finish combined with high skin adhesion wearing comfort.Note de contenu : - FIGURES : 1.
Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : To improve the cross-linking efficiency of gelatin molecules, sodium acetate trihydrate/urea deep eutectic solvent with 30% water (SAT/U-DES30W, based on DES weight) was proposed as the solvent of gelatin in this paper. The system could overcome the gelation effect of gelatin at low temperature and expose more active groups of gelatin molecules, resulting in better cross-linking effect. Firstly, the optimal reaction concentration of epichlorohydrin (ECH) was determined by boiling water solubility of cross-linking products, and the cross-linking efficiency of gelatin under two systems was judged together with the Glass transition temperature method. Secondly, the water resistance of the cross-linked product was investigated by swelling capacity and water contact angle. The water absorption rate of GEW and GEDES decreased from 4614% to 1500% and 929% at 12 h, respectively, and the water contact angle also obviously decreased, indicating that the cross-linking efficiency of gelatin under DES system was higher. Finally, the cross-linking mechanism of gelatin and ECH were discussed and it was found the thermal stability of GEDES was significantly improved, which would provide a theoretical basis for gelatin-based materials.

Revêtements en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : As global environmental concerns continue to overshadow the use of well-established metal surface pretreatment processes such as chromate treatment and phosphatization, the need for environmentally friendly corrosion protection systems has never been greater. A promising solution to this worldwide regulatory issue is waterborne silane technology, which can offer a heavy metal-free, volatile organic compound (VOC)-free alternative to protecting metals from corrosion. The mechanism behind this corrosion protection can best be explained by the passivation of a metal surface with a waterborne silane film, which acts as a barrier to water, salts, and other corroding materials in the surrounding environment. It is important to note that the waterborne silane technology investigated in this work can be viewed as a type of conversion coating or pretreatment to the metal surface, rather than a conventional waterborne coating or primer. Certain waterborne silane technology requires high-temperature curing procedures for optimal results, which can be difficult to achieve in certain applications or industries. With the use of bipodal silanes, the additional crosslinking introduced into the system can alleviate the need for this high-temperature curing procedure. In this novel work, we demonstrate that the incorporation of a bipodal silane into waterborne silane systems improves the surface passivation of the metal surface, enhances the hydrophobicity of the system, and increases the crosslinking density of the system, leading to significant improvements in the corrosion resistance of waterborne silane technology. To correlate the dirt resistance of exterior coatings with surface characteristics (wettability, roughness, and composition), steel topcoats were evaluated using both dirt pick-up tests according to a national standard testing method of China (GB/T 9757-2001) and outdoor exposure experiments in Shanghai, China. These topcoats included polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) paints with various water contact angles (WCAs), polyurethane (PU) paint, polysiloxane (PSiO) paint, and 2K fluorocarbon (FPU) paint. Opposite dirt resistance results were obtained from these two dirt pick-up methods. In the outdoor exposure experiments, superhydrophilic PVDF paints showed excellent self-cleaning performance and thus superior dirt resistance. Superhydrophobic PVDF paint exhibited self-cleaning performance initially, but became dirty finally due to a piling up of PM2.5 pollutants. PVDF paints with WCAs of 85°–125°, PU, PSiO, and FPU paints all exhibited poor dirt resistance in the outdoor environment. These results indicate that dirt resistance depends on surface wettability and the characteristics of pollutants rather than on the surface roughness and composition.
