Polyfluorure de vinylidèneIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Hydrophobic polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hollow fibre composite membranes were prepared by the dilute solution coating process to build a special surface structure that was similar to the dual micro‐nano structure on the lotus leaf. Poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐hexafluoropropene) was chosen as the hydrophobic polymer candidate in dilute solution. Membrane morphology and surface hydrophobicity were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy and dynamic water contact angle measurement. The prepared PVDF hollow fibre membranes were employed to separate dyes (Congo Red and Methylene Blue) from water by vacuum membrane distillation. The effects of operational conditions (feed temperature, vacuum pressure and feed flow rate) on the vacuum membrane distillation performance of different PVDF membranes were investigated. The results indicated that the water contact angle values of PVDF composite membrane surfaces improved from 93.6° to 130.8°, which was mainly attributed to the formation of micro‐nano rods. This structure was similar to the dual micro‐nano structure on the lotus leaf. Under test feed temperature, vacuum pressure and feed flow rate conditions, the dye rejection rate of Congo Red and Methylene Blue by the hydrophobic PVDF hollow fibre membrane remained above 99.5% and 99%, which was higher than that of the pristine PVDF membrane (99% and 98%, respectively). In addition, the hydrophobic PVDF hollow fibre composite membrane showed higher permeation flux under different conditions compared with the pristine PVDF membrane, which was attributed to membrane surface hydrophobicity and the electrostatic interactions between dyes and the PVDF membrane surface. Cuirs et peauxIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : With due deference to the increasing use of business speak there is the oft-heard statement that the only thing in business which is certain is that there will always be change.
This is certainly true of the leather industry which has, over the years, shown great changes. It is especially the case when we ewamine the ever-increasing role played by leather in the world of fashion. Thanks to the efforts of enlightened tanners, leather has become an accepted material in the high fashion equation. This has however, led to increasing demands from designers and consumers for the various leathers to be supplied in an ever-increasing range of fashion shades. Fortunately leather in tis many guises is generally a forgiving substrate for dyeing in that it can be coloured with a wide range of products.
Over 1,300 dyes are listed in the Colour Index as "Dyes for leather" and over 900 of them are acid dyes. All this would appear to offer the tanner a limitless ability to select products for a wide range of shades, and if only the shade is considered this is true. However, as we all well know, it is never only just the shade which is required. A recent survey of tanners around the world came up with an average breakdown of shades in production at major tanneries. As expected black is important at 52 % but almost half is brown 24 % plus other colours (24 %). Thus almost half of leather dyed is dyed into brown and colours and the expectation from designers and consumers is for an ever growing selection of bright fashionable shades in all materials including leather. i.e. Leather must also be able to be produced in a wide ranger of fashion shades.

ProtéinesIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Color-forming rules and mechanism of methylamine and protein fibers dyed by four iridoids, genipin, loganin aglycone, oleuropein aglycone and E-6-O-methoxycinnamoyl scandoside methyl ester aglycone were researched. The results showed that, before the formation of final pigments, intermediates were formed. A continuous color change following classical color matching principles was observed when the pigments formed by genipin and oleuropein aglycone reacted individually with methylamine were mixed. However, when genipin and oleuropein aglycone reacted simultaneously with methylamine, the situation was different. The results of single dyeing and combination dyeing of protein fibers showed that color of the dyed protein was the same as that formed by each iridoid with methylamine. This means that the structure of iridoid is the dominant factor for the color-forming process. The classical color-matching principle would be observed when two iridoids were applied to dye protein fibers separately. However, during simultaneous combination dyeing, the classical color-matching principle was not observed. SoufreIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Chamois leathers find application in fuel filtration and cleaning. Recently, use of chamois leathers is explored in the development of sports garments, gloves and other personal wear. However, one of the consumer demand viz. different colors on the end product is not met by chamois leathers. Hence, dyeing is essential to make it more attractive for end user applications. In the present work an attempt has been made to develop colored chamois leather by employing water soluble sulphur dyes. The offer of sulphur dyes have been optimized based on dyeing characteristics, color fastness and color values. The results indicate that offer of 1 and 2% of the dyes show better colour value and fastness to rubbing. Hence, it could be inferred that coloring of chamois leathers not only improved the aesthetic appeal but also helped in adding value without altering inherent properties of chamois leather.
