PolyimidesTags : 'Moulage transfert résine sous vide haute température' 'Phényléthynyle terminé imide' 'LARCTM PETI-330' PETI-8' Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Fabrication of composite structures using vacuum assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) is generally more affordable than conventional autoclave techniques. Recent efforts have focused on adapting VARTM for the fabrication of high temperature composites. Due to their low melt viscosity and long melt stability, certain phenylethynyl terminated imides (PETI) can be processed into composites using high temperature VARTM (HT-VARTM). However, one of the disadvantages of the current HT-VARTM resin systems has been the high porosity of the resultant composites. For aerospace applications a void fraction of less than 2% is desired. In the current study, two PETI resins, LARCTM PETI-330 and LARCTM PETI-8 have been used to fabricate test specimens using HT-VARTM. The resins were infused into carbon fiber preforms at 260 °C and cured between 316 °C and 371 °C. Modifications to the thermal cycle used in the laminate fabrication have reduced the void content significantly (typically < 3%) for carbon fiber biaxially woven fabric. Photomicrographs of the panels were taken and void contents were determined by acid digestion. For carbon fiber uniaxial fabric, void contents of less than 2% have been obtained using both PETI-8 and PETI-330. Mechanical properties of the panels were determined at both room and elevated temperatures. These include short beam shear and flexure tests. The results of this work are presented herein. It enhances the life of super alloy components life significantly, which is essential for increasing the efficiency of advanced gas turbine engines. It is expected to be a potential bond coating for advanced gas turbine engine blades of different types, i.e., aero, industrial, and marine for their protection against high temperature oxidation, type I, and type II hot corrosion. Stabilité thermiqueIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : Achieving effective high-temperature performance and durability from adhesives formulations is a common challenge facing the tape and label industry, particulraly for industrial and outdoor applications whiere extreme heat sensitivity requirements during product use are critical.
A new development in styrenic block copolymer (SBC) technology is breaking new ground in high-temperature performance for pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) by allowing safe processing at temperatures up to 190°C and consistent performance at temperatures as high as 120°C.
This is good news for automotive tapes, electronic data processing labels and similar applications that are required to survive the demands of high-temperature processing and retain their performance for long periods despite exposure to sun or other heat-related environments during use.
SBCs were pioneered more than 40 years ago by Kraton Polymers scientists, and are widely used in adhesives, sealants and coatings because of their performance characteristics and processing capabilities as high solids content solutions or as solvent-free hot melts.
These polymers have been particularly successful in tape and label applications where their high tack and cohesion properties enable adhesion to difficult substrates such as corrugated carboard and polyolefin surfaces, such as used in nappies (diapers).
Developments in SBC technology for pressure-sensitive adhesives based on styrene-isoprene-styrene (SIS) and styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) have gone some way towards achieving successful performance at elevated temperatures.
However, degradation in adhesive performance still occurs at very high temperatures - over 90°C - because of the lower thermo-oxidative resistance of the unsaturated bonds in the rubber midblock.Note de contenu : - Features of SBCs

Note de contenu : - MATERIAU

Résistance thermiqueIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : Through the development of its new polyurethane matrix resin, Loctite MAX 3, Henkel has taken a further important step toward fully automated series production of composite components for the auto-motive industry. In collaboration with KraussMaffei, Henkel — the world market leader for adhesives, sealants and surface treatment technologies — has developed a process for the manufacture of components based on glass or carbon fibre and using high-pressure RTM (HP-RTM) technology that creates a surface quality good enough for auto-motive exteriors. Using a model of the light, high-strength carbon fibre roof segment of the Roding Roadster R I , this innovative production process was presented at 'K', the world's most important trade fair for the plastics and rubber industries, which took place last October in Düsseldorf.
