Traction (mécanique)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Stress corrosion is a form of corrosion that takes place in metal resulting from the conjoint action of stress and chemical. It is abbreviated as SCC. It is a phenomenon associated with a combination of static tensile stress, environment, and a metal metalIurgical condition which leads to component failure due to the initiation and propagation of a high aspect ratio crack. It is characterized by fine cracks (Figure-1), which lead to failure of potential components of the structure concerned. The SCC is an insidious form of corrosion ; it produces a marked loss of mechanical strength with little metal loss. The damage is not obvious to casual inspection and the stress corrosion cracks can trigger mechanical fracture and catastrophic failure of components and structures. Caustic cracking and hydrogen embrittlements are also the specific type of stress corrosion cracking. The failures are more often sudden and unpredictable which may occur after as I ittle as few months to years of previously satisfactory service. Several major disasters have involved stress corrosion cracking, including the rupture of high-pressure gas transmission pipes, the explosion of boliers, and the destruction of power stations and oil refineries.

Revêtements -- Séchage sous rayonnement ultravioletIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) waste recycling has become a worldwide research interest for industries and academic institutes due its inevitable environmental impact. The main objective of current research work is to target efficient recycling of PET waste from mineral water bottles by the glycolysis method and subsequent use of the recycled product for value-added coating application. In the present study, we report on MP-diol (2-methyl-1,3-propanediol) which is not explored much for the chemical recycling of PET, having a branched aliphatic diol with two primary hydroxyls, for glycolysis reaction. The reaction parameters were optimized for microwave-assisted technique by varying the ratio of raw materials, reaction time, temperature, and power. The reaction parameters were optimized, and the recycled oligomeric product (OPETMPD) was separated, purified, and characterized by chemical and spectroscopic methods. Subsequently, dimethacrylated oligoesters of PET oligomer (UV oligomer) were synthesized by methacrylation of the glycolyzed PET product (OPETMPD). The synthesized UV oligomer was evaluated using chemical and spectroscopic methods. Ultraviolet (UV) radiation-curable formulations were prepared using synthesized UV oligomer and applied on wooden panels. The coatings were cured using UV-curing machine and evaluated for their performance properties. The partial replacement of UV oligomer in UV formulations exhibited comparative coating performance properties with respect to conventional UV formulation.

Stabilité hydrolytiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The hydrolytic stability was evaluated for a series of oligoesters comprised of three or four different monomers. The oligoesters were prepared from adipic acid (AA) and isophthalic acid (IPA) with six different diols, 1,4-butanediol, 1,5-pentanediol, 1,6-hexanediol, neopentyl glycol, 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol, 2-butene-1,4-diol, and one triol, trimethylolpropane. The hydroxyl-terminated ternary and quaternary oligoesters were end-capped using phenyl isocyanate. The hydrolysis rate constants were obtained from acid number. The flexibility of diacids had a determinative effect on the hydrolytic stability of the carbamate end-capped oligoesters.
les polyoléfines thermoplastiques semi-cristallines : polyéthylène (PE), polypropylène (PP), polyméthylpentène (PMP), polybutène-1 (PB-1) ;

Thermoplastiques -- RecyclageIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The market for recycled thermoplastic polymers is undergoing a sharp increase, although recyclate polymers are regarded as materials with inferior properties when compared to the virgin material. This study investigates the behavior of non-contaminated scraps of low density polyethylene (LDPE) from the plastic packaging industry after single processing stage, in terms of the productivity and the thermal and rheological properties. The LDPE used was reprocessed on a single-screw extruder (Miotto) of 90 mm screw diameter and L/D = 25. Three screw speeds (80, 90 and 100 min– 1) were investigated at three processing temperatures (200, 250 and 300 °C). The reprocessed materials were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA, parallel plates rheometry and productivity. The results obtained by TGA showed a typical range of polyolefin degradation (350 to 450 °C). The viscoelastic properties did not show significant changes in relation to the rheological behavior. Increasing the temperature and screw speed promoted a productivity gain of approximately 30 %. This suggests that under the conditions studied it is possible to reprocess this material with good productivity ensuring its thermal, mechanical and rheological properties.
