The experiments were carried out at three different laser powers ranging from 4.5 to 6 W to determine the effect of laser treatment on fabric properties. In particular, the influence of laser irradiation on the dyeing properties of treated fabrics with CI Reactive Blue 198 was studied. The colour change of laser-treated fabrics was determined by calculation of the K/S values as a function of fabric reflectance. The morphological changes in laser-treated fabrics were observed by scanning electron microscopy. The effects of laser treatment on the properties of raw and bleached cotton fabrics were varied. For instance, the wettability of raw cotton samples was reduced after laser irradiation, whereas the wettability of bleached cotton fabrics was greater. Possible reasons for the various dyeing behaviours observed with irradiation at different laser powers are discussed. Vapeur d'eauIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Water vapour permeability of wood coatings is an essential property to steer moisture dynamics and to enable entrapped water to escape. Ideally, permeability measurements are made on a wood substrate, but the variability of the material poses a problem. Two methods are presented that overcome the difficulty of wood substrate variability and offer simple and flexible ways of sample preparation and measurement. Revêtements poudreIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Film coating of tablets is the application of a thin layer of coating material to improve the tablet properties. Different coating materials like hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) have been widely used in tablet coatings for immediate release of the active pharmaceutical ingredient. A new immediate release film coating formula that contains modified corn starch as the coating polymer was investigated, and it shows improved physiochemical properties over conventional film coating material (HPMC and PVA). The purpose of this study is to investigate the potential of the new modified starch coating as a coating material in comparison with HPMC- and PVA-based formulas. Evaluation was done on a coating powder dispersion of 20% w/w by measuring the viscosity, sedimentation, foaming behavior, and microbial stability. Free films were prepared from each coating formula and tested for water vapor permeability and morphology. The coating process was then executed on the model tablets (levofloxacin 500 mg) after optimizing the coating parameters. Characterization of modified starch film-coated tablets was done by testing morphology, hardness, friability, thickness, disintegration, and drug release profiles. It was concluded that the new modified starch coating is superior to HPMC and PVA formulations in terms of free film and applied coated tablet esthetics, inner structure composition, preparation and coating process parameters. Additionally, the modified starch coating showed similar release profiles to HPMC- and PVA-based coating formulas. Note de contenu : - Coating dispersion study

Vapeur d'eauIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The standard method 1SO 14268 describes a technique for the measurement of water vapour permeability (WVP) of leather which is based on the mass surge of a desiccant contained in a vessel sealed with the specimen under test. The water vapour that seeps inside the container through the leather specimen is absorbed by the desiccant, the mass of which increases proportionally ; fresh water vapour is provided onto the external side by a constant flow of air conditioned at 23°C and 50% relative humidity that is perpendicularly conveyed onto the specimen surface by a rotating fan.
Since the inner side of the vessel is kept dry by the desiccant, the difference of chemical potential between the two facets generates a diffusive force (quantitatively accounted for by the first Fick's law) that drives water vapour across the leather piece in the out-in direction. The mass increase of the desiccant nominally equates the total amount of vapour that has crossed the leather specimen so that the WVP can be calculated by dividing the mass growth of the desiccant by the duration of the measurement (between 7 and 16 hours) and by the exposed area of the specimen.

TempératureIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Pigskin, cowhide and sheepskin are commonly used clothing materials in our life. The study of moisture permeability is very important. In this paper, the effects of temperature and humidity on the moisture permeability of three kinds of leather were studied. The results showed that the moisture permeability of the three kinds of leather increased with the increase of temperature, and the rising trends of pigskin and sheepskin were similar. When the temperature was greater than 20°C, their order of moisture permeability was cowhide > pigskin > sheepskin. With the increase of humidity, the moisture permeabilities of the three kinds of leather were close to each other, the changing trend of moisture permeability of pigskin and sheepskin was very similar. The moisture permeability of sheepskin is greatest at high humidity. By comparing the 3d surface and the mathematical model, it was found that humidity has a greater influence on its moisture permeability than temperature.
