shampooingsIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Increasing pollution levels, climate change, and stress are known to affect our skin and cause sensitive skin reactions. But they also affect our scalp, a specific type of skin with a higher density of follicles and sebaceous glands than can be found on other parts of the body. Sebaceous glands, which produce large amounts of sebum, are important for the maintenance of epidermal barrier integrity. They carry antioxidants to the skin surface, the sebum they produce is a source of nutrients for the micro-organisms composing the microbiota, and give protection against solar irradiation. But when these glands are stimulated by environmental factors, they over-produce sebum, which can cause irritations, leading to itching, which in turn causes squames and additional irritation reactions, creating a vicious circle. Stress oxydatifIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Over time the ageing process changes skin structure. Damage caused by free radicals prevents normal cellular function and, among other things, the different skin layers become atrophied. The cutaneous relief quality is degraded, skin becomes rough, loses its firmness and wrinkles begin to form. These ageing signs, that appear on the skin surface, have to be reversed from the depth and net just visibly improved.
Consumers become aware that skin ageing is an unavoidable phenomenon : it happens to each of us, all the time and everywhere, no matter our lifestyle. However, we embrace a new age of ageing : self-confidence is no longer just about looking younger because growing older is better and better accepted — but also to look good for yourself. The search for new action mechanisms is still required to decrease side effects and to improve appearance together with skin texture. Some women are willing to use aesthetic treatment in order to improve their appearance and some others prefer a more natural way: using efficient molecules extracted from plants.
