The structure of intermediate and products were indicated by infrared spectroscopy. The physico-chemical properties of aqueous solution of products were also investigated. The results show that products are excellent emulsifiers, with the low surface tension in 27–30 mN/ m and good wetting power, and possess different foaming behavior in hard water and distilled water. StyrénationIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The synthesis of styrenated oils based on secondary esters of castor oil is described. The steps of the process are as follows : 1) esterification of castor oil with fatty acids of drying and semidrying oils ; 2) splitting of castor oil ester, and 3) conversion of the splitting mixture to either triglyceride or partial glyceride. While the triglyceride samples were styrenated by a conventional process, the partial glycerides' thermally labile azo groups were initially inserted into the oil molecule, and then this intermediate was reacted with styrene. The obtained styrenated oils showed good film properties Note de contenu : - Materials

TriméthylolpropaneIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Polyurethane flame retardant coatings are composed of polyols and polyisocyanates. Flame retardant groups are usually introduced to the polyol structure. In this research intermediates were obtained by esterification of 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid and trimethylolpropane for the purpose of introducing a flame retardant group to the polyol structure. Then chlorine-containing modified polyesters were synthesized by polycondensation of trimethylolpropane, adipic acid, 1,4-butanediol, and the intermediate. The content of 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid in the intermediate was varied with 10, 20, and 30 wt%. Two-component polyurethane flame retardant coatings were prepared by blending the products with polyisocyanate. Various physical properties of these new flame retardant coatings were comparable to non-flame retardant coatings. They showed drying times of four to seven hours and pot life times of 14-20 hr, which could belong to the flame retardant coatings with long pot life time. The coating with 30 wt% 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid showed a self-extinguishing property in the vertical burning test.

Revêtements -- Propriétés mécaniquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this study, a new hybrid alkyd resin was formulated using melamine-based hyperbranched polymer having 24 hydroxyl groups on its structure and relatively low molecular weight alkyd. The alkyd was synthesized using an oil mixture (40% linseed + 60% sunflower). Melamine was used as the core molecule for the hyperbranched polymer due to its excellent properties such as greater hardness, alkali and solvent resistance, and thermal stability. Melamine was first hydroxylated using formaldehyde and changed into hexamethylol melamine. This product was then twice hydroxylated with dimethylol propionic acid to obtain a hyperbranched polymer with 24 hydroxyl end groups. It was then reacted with low molecular weight alkyd resin at different proportions. The product had a low viscosity and could easily flow like oil. It is a solvent-free and water-free liquid. The ‘hyperbranched polymer/alkyd’ ratio affected physical properties of the liquid polymer and also the mechanical properties of the hardened polymer, which can be used for surface coating. The viscosity of the liquid resin decreases from 148 to 8.84 Pa.s as the hyperbranched-polymer-to-alkyd ratio is decreased from 1:3 to 1:24. On the other hand, the hardness of heat-treated resin decreases from 198 Persoz to 43 Persoz, respectively. That is, the increase in the amount of hyperbranched polymer in the resin increases hardness, whereas the increase in the amount of alkyd decreases it. The mechanical tests of hardened resins showed that all specimens passed conical mandrel bending test, and they all depicted high adhesion, and high abrasion and impact resistance. The specimens also had excellent gloss properties. EstersIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : The long reaction time and low conversion of the existing technologies in indirect synthesis of disodium mono-fatty alcohol citrate constrain their industrialized application. Here, we developed a new technology and synthesized a series of monoester of citric acid salts different carbon atoms in hydrophobic group. The structures of intermediate and products were defined by infrared spectra and hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance spectra. Their physico-chemical properties were systematically studied for the first time, including equilibrium surface tension, wetting ability, emulsification stability and foaming behavior in aqueous solution. The results show that ifs the number of carbon atoms in the hydrophobic group increases, the critical micelle concentration (CMC) decreases, wetting ability weakens, the foaming volume in hard water increases and emulsification stability for liquid paraffin and bean oil increases, but opposite for oil acid.
