Index. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : Fourteen new sulfobetaines with N-alkylmorpholinium moiety have been synthesized using correspording N-alkylmorpholines and propanesultone or butanesultone. Their interfacial activities in aqueous solution were studied by equilibrium and dynamic surface tension measurements. Surface tension measurements provide information about the surface excess concentration, the minimum area per surfactant molecule, the critical micellar concentration (CMC) and the standard Gibbs energy of adsorption. The adsorption properties of these compounds significantly depend on the length of alkyl chain (the number of carbons). The lowest value of critical micellar concentration is obtained for the compound with the longest carbon chain and decrease with increasing of chain length of compounds considered. The same tendency is observed for effectiveness of adsorption. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES

TriéthanolamineIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this study, size-tunable magnetite (Fe3O4) nanocrystal spheres were promptly synthesized by a facile one-pot solvothermal process with the presence of triethanolamine as an additive. The as-synthesized Fe3O4 nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometer. The results showed that the synthesized nanoparticles were in the size range of 30–350 nm, had well-defined Fe3O4 crystal phase, and had favorable saturation magnetization. The effects of various important parameters, such as initial Cr(VI) concentration, temperature, and pH, on the adsorption properties of the as-obtained Fe3O4 particles for the removal of Cr(VI) in aqueous solution were deeply analyzed and studied. The results confirmed that the adsorption efficiency was highly pH dependent, decreased with the increasing of initial concentration of Cr(VI), and increased with increasing temperature. The adsorption data were well fitted with the Langmuir isotherm. The maximum adsorption capacity calculated from the Langmuir isotherm was 56.625 mg g−1 at temperature of 35°C and pH of 2.0.

Traitement par irradiationIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : A commercially available catalyst with high photocatalytic activity (Degussa p-25) was immobilised on a comparatively inexpensive substrate that included cotton/polyester knitted fabric by citric acid under sonication. Scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis revealed the presence of nano titanium dioxide on the surface of the fabric. Discoloration of CI Reactive Black 5 in aqueous solution was successfully carried out by adding a piece of nano titanium dioxide-treated fabric into the dye solution under UV-A irradiation. The ultraviolet–visible spectra indicated complete discoloration of CI Reactive Black 5 dye solutions. CI Reactive Black 5 solution, along with electrolytes including sodium sulphate and calcium carbonate, was also successfully discoloured with lower efficiency. Further, the photocatalytic properties of the nano titanium dioxide-immobilised fabric did not change after dye solution discoloration and it was used several times for discoloration of the same solutions. The proposed system can be developed on a large scale. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Materials - Immobilising nano TiO2 on the fabric - Photo reactor - Analytical procedures

Teinture -- Fibres textiles synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Reduction clearing using aqueous sodium dithionite under alkaline conditions at elevated temperatures is commonly carried out as an aftertreatment to remove deposits of disperse dye and other impurity residues from the surface of dyed polyester. In this paper, the effect of conventional reduction clearing on the colour and fastness properties of polyester dyed with a series of selected commercial disperse dyes at a range of depths of shade is established, and an understanding of the scientific principles is developed. The results correlate closely with an assessment of surface dye removal by cold acetone extraction of the dyed samples. Because of certain environmental, technological, and economic disadvantages associated with traditional reduction clearing using sodium dithionite, there is industrial interest in alternatives. Thus, this paper also describes a study of the use of two organic reducing agents, thiourea dioxide and hydroxyacetone, and the relative merits of the three processes are discussed. The outcome of clearing varies with the particular dye. Mechanistic explanations are proposed, based on individual characteristics of the molecular structures of the dyes. Scanning electron microscopic investigations of the surface of dyed samples before and after reduction clearing were qualitatively consistent with the assessments of the technical performance. This paper is the first in a series in which we will subsequently report further comparative studies, based on similar methodology, exploring alternative clearing processes. Résumé: It has been shown that iron complex and many copper complex dyes are readily decomposed by sequestrants. In addition, iron complex dyes are readily decomposed by cupric ions. Hue changes occur on dye decomposition and these can give rise to unlevelness and colour variation in dyeing. Certain combinations of iron and copper complex dyes are unstable in aqueous solution at 60°C and this can result in pack to pack colour variation. Colour fastness may not be predictable from comparisons of manufacturer's ratings if decomposition has occured.Note de contenu : - Chemical constitution of leather dyes: atomic absorption analysis
