The chemical oxygen demand was used as the main evaluation index in the wastewater. The effects of benzene, aniline, 2-mercaptobenzothiazole and methylene blue on the adsorption mechanism and performance of FAC prior and postmodification were investigated by different adsorption models. All of them fitted the Langmuir monomolecular adsorption model. The adsorption capacity of MAC was 1.07, 1.12, 1.56 and 0.62 times that of FAC, respectively, which had a better adsorption effect on hydrophobic organic compounds. The maximum adsorption capacity increased due to the existence of competitive adsorption in multicomponent absorption. Texture properties of activated carbon were characterised by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier Transform-infrared and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller theory, which show that the surface morphology became spongy, and that Si-O-C and Si-O infrared peaks appeared. In addition to the mesopore volume, the specific surface area, pore volume and micropore volume decreased slightly after the modification. PG mixture obtained by the glycerolysis reaction was subjected to solvent extraction with methanol to concentrate PG. The enhanced partial glycerides (PGE) were thermally cured with Bz-Si. After that, the film sample cured by means of sol–gel reaction (CF(Bz-Si)/PGE) was examined in view of film properties. Applied tests showed that CF(Bz-Si)/PGE could be used as an oil-based binder for coating applications. Note de contenu : - Materials

Spectroscopie infrarouge en temps réelIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The migration of unreacted photoinitiators and their by-products from UV-cured printing inks and coatings is an increasing concern for food packaging applications. This paper describes the synthesis of novel multifunctional photoinitiators (MFPI) for use in UV curing, with the aim of decreasing the amount of extractable components present in a UV-cured coating. The activity of these MFPIs was investigated using differential photocalorimetry (DPC) and real-time infrared spectroscopy (RTIR). These analytical techniques demonstrated that the increase in functionality and molecular weight of MFPIs did not affect the efficiency of the PI in initiating UV-curing polymerisation reactions. The extraction studies and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis demonstrated that the use of MFPI can bring about a considerable reduction in the amount of free PI extracted from the coating as the high functionality increased the likelihood of the PI being bound into the polymer coating. A polyacrylate-organosilicon and its layered silicate nanocomposites (PLS) for leather finishing were prepared by emulsion polymerization. The O-MMT was examined by infrared spectrum (FT-IR). wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD). The results show that the distance hetween the silicate layers increased indicating that the intercalating agents did enter into the gallery space of the montmorillonite.
Films of the nanocomposites (PLS) were examined by WAXD and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), the results prove the formation of exfoliated nanocomposites. Film formation was easy and the film was completely transparent with gond tenacity. The mechanical properties and flexural modulus of the nanocomposite film were improved; especially noteworthy was the glass transition temperature of the film which decreased.Note de contenu : - Preparation of organophilic montmorillonite

SilicatesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The use of a styrene-acrylic dispersion as binder in decorative wall paint has been the industry standard in many regions, thanks to its intrinsic high water resistance and outstanding pigment loading capability. Styrene-acrylic dispersions with a low minimum filmformation temperature (MFFT) based on styrene and butyl acrylate monomers have made a good contribution to reduce the need for plasticisers or solvents for film formation, so that the finished paints meet EU volatile organic compound (VOC) emission standard - 2004/42/EC. While the approach has been accepted as the state of the art solution for many years, paint manufacturers are continuously searching for improvements to meet higher market requirements and ever-increasing regulatory standards.
