The composite coating of EN–PTFE–MoS2 was heat treated at different temperatures for hardness investigations. The surface morphology of coatings was characterized by scanning electron microscopy. Pin-on-disk and potentiodynamic polarization tests were used to study the tribological and corrosion properties of the coatings, respectively. Results of hardness analysis revealed that the hardness of electroless nickel coatings was increased by the heat treatment, and its maximum was gained at 400°C. Wear investigations showed that simultaneous co-deposition of the PTFE and MoS2 particles into the nickel coating increased the wear resistance of the coating by about 30% and reduced the average value of friction coefficient to 0.25 from 0.65. Corrosion studies illustrated that simultaneous co-deposition of the PTFE and MoS2 particles led to reduction in corrosion resistance by 10 and 5 times that of EN coating in brine and acidic solution, respectively. Revêtements protecteursIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Wet storage stain, especially on galvanised sheet, is a white or gray, crumbley and porous powdery deposit that can develop on newly galvanised sheets, plates, angles, bars and pipes. The most common form of stain is white in colour so such storage stain on galvanised surface is also known as white rust or white corrosion. Due to their configuration, many products galvanized after fabrication are less susceptible to wet storage staining than plain galvanized wire and sheet.
The bulky white or gray corrosion product associated with wet storage stain should not be confused with the protective layer on zinc corrosion products which form under normal atmospheric exposure of galvanized coatings. Even though the corrosion products on fully exposed galvanized surfaces may be white or light gray, they are not the product of wet storage stain. Their color is solely a function of the environment and the zinc-iron alloy content of the galvanized coating.Note de contenu : - Chemistry

Titre : Zinc-nickel alloy coatings electrodeposited by pulse current and their corrosion behavior Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Chuen-Chang Lin, Auteur ; Chi-Ming Huang, Auteur Année de publication : 2006 Article en page(s) : p. 99-104 Note générale : Bibliogr.

ZingageIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Steel in subtropical monsoon regions encounters severe atmospheric corrosion. In an attempt to provide better corrosion protection, zinc-nickel alloys were electrodeposited on steel by pulse current. Some electric variables (average current density and pulse cycle) and bath temperature on chemical compositions and grain size of coatings were studied. Next, zinc-nickel alloys electrodeposited on steel were prepared for atmospheric corrosion tests. In addition, the determination of the chemical compositions and the grain size of the Zn-Ni alloy coatings were conducted by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) combined with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and scanning probe atomic force microscope (AFM). Furthermore, Tafel plots were employed to evaluate the alloy corrosion behavior. ZincIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : This article covers the characterization of newly developed zinc based composite coating with incorporated polytetrafluorethylène particles (Zn-PTFE coating). Coatings prepared under selected optimal parameters were studied with regard to their composition by microscopic analysis, infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and with regard to their function by tribological experiments and corrosion tests. Analytical methods enabled to evaluate the presence of PTFE particles in the coatings and also the homogeneity of the particles distribution. Tribological experiment confirmed a positive effect of PTFE on friction properties of Zn-PTFE coatings. Corrosion tests demonstrated that the addition of PTFE did not decrease the corrosion resistance of Zn-PTFE coatings. Due to their corrosion resistance and self-lubricating properties, Zn-PTFE coatings offer promising alternative to currently used functional coatings.
