les polyoléfines thermoplastiques semi-cristallines : polyéthylène (PE), polypropylène (PP), polyméthylpentène (PMP), polybutène-1 (PB-1) ;

Traction (mécanique)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This study treats the transport of solvents in a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) and influence on mechanical bulk properties. The selected substrate and solvents represent materials used in coatings on plastics. The swelling of TPO was found to depend on the temperature and, in accordance with Hansen’s concept of solubility, revealing the following order of swelling power for solvent types: aromatic hydrocarbons ≫ esters > alcohols. Absorption of TPO by the solvent xylene at 20 and 80°C allowed for the calculation of a diffusion coefficient. Complete release of xylene was found to last several months. Recovered TPO samples were of slightly lower weight, reduced E-modulus and tensile strength compared to the original state. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Methods and materials

Spectroscopie d'impédance électrochimiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A study of the weathering mechanism of innovative polyurethane powder coatings has been performed. UV-B irradiation and condensation cycle accelerated tests were carried out on two different polyurethane powder coating formulations for outdoor applications. Using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and microscope observation, it was possible to analyze the photochemical and morphological modifications. In addition, the color and gloss changes were measured. Organic coatings are often in contact with solvents in particular during cleaning actions. The chemical resistance was then studied considering the evolution of the corrosion barrier property of the coating as a function of the solvent contact time. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements were carried out. Methylethylketone (polar) and xylene (apolar) were considered as representative solvents. Due to the strong polarity, the first solvent showed a strong interaction with the hydrogen bonds between the polyurethane chains causing the solvent uptake. The amount of solvent uptake depends on the coating chains rigidity caused by the different polyester resin monomers. The apolar xylene presented no significant interaction with the coatings.

Surfaces fonctionnellesIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Natural surface has kinds of sophisticated micro structures which formed various superior functions such as drag reduction through biological evolution. However, such function performs to maximum just at its living environment. In order to adjust the optimal function region of natural surface, one novel approach, bio-scaling forming process, is proposed to by taking advantage of solvent-swelling effect of Polydimethylsiloxane. To realize the accurate replication of bioscaled shark skin, swelling ratio and swelling rate in gaseous n-Hexane are investigated. The accuracy of bio-scaling processing approach is verified by comparison between microstructure of original and amplified shark skin, which shows that the swelling ratio can reach even to 34 %, and the bioscaling processing accuracy is higher than 95 %. In addition, both the water contact angle and the optimal velocity range of drag reduction will change with the amplification. Note de contenu : - Swelling ratio and rate control of PDMS
