Leather tanned with epoxy resin was considered as a more environmentally friendlyprocess, but it takes as long as five days for reaction, and results in poor performance of leather. The aim of the present study was to tan leather collagen with a carboxyl-functionalized epoxy resin, which was thought to be an eco-friendly tanning process and the reaction time was shortened to 12h. The reaction between carboxyl-functionalized epoxy resin and leather collagen can be divided into two stages, the reaction of epoxy group with leather collagen and the reaction of carboxyl group with leather collagen. The influences of tanning conditions (medium pH, epoxy resin amount and reaction time) on the properties of tanned leather were also discussed. In the first stage, the epoxy group was reacted with leather collagen in basic conditions. The results showed that the carboxyl-functionalized epoxy resin could better penetrate into the leather fibers when the pH value was 8.5, and the best effect of tanned leather collagen was found using reaction condition of pH 7.0. In the second stage, it was the reaction of carboxyl group to leather collagen in acid conditions, and the best effect was found under the condition of pH was 3.5. Meanwhile, it provided a better tanning effect when the carboxyl-functionalized epoxy resin amount was 6% and the reaction time was 12h. The chrome-less tanning process that carboxyl-functionalized epoxy resin combination with 3% chrome was studied. The results showed that the hydrothermal stability and strength properties of leather tanned by carboxyl-functionalized epoxy resin with 3% chrome were close, even superior, to those of the leather produced by conventional chrome tanning with 8% chrome. Enzymes microbiennesIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Isolation and identification of protease and lipase producing moderately halophilic bacteria from soak liquor samples and studying their adverse effects to the sheepskin using scanning electron microscopy may provide critical data on decomposition of raw hide/skin materials during soaking process. Moreover, enzyme-production properties of the moderately halophilic isolates (such as catalase, oxidase, lipase, protease, urease, caseinase, amylase, cellulase, pullulanase, xylanase) were determined. The effects of different NaCl concentrations, pH and temperature values on the growth of moderately halophilic bacterial isolates were tested. In the present study, four moderately halophilic bacterial isolates were isolated and selected for further experiments. The isolated species designated as SLMHB5, SLMHB10, SLMHB12, SLMHB13 were similar to Vibrio alginolyticus, Terribacillus halophilus, Vibrio alginolyticus, and Vibrio parahaemolyticus species, respectively. Scanning electron micrographs of sheepskin samples demonstrated that enzymatic activities of moderately halophilic bacteria isolated from soak liquor samples which decomposed the skin structure. After 35-days storage period, the sheepskin sample showed bad odor, sticky appearance and hair slip. Hence, it is recommended to control these microorganisms during the soaking process with an effective antimicrobial agent. Note de contenu : - Soak liquor samples

Titre : Laccase-functionalized magnetic framework composite enabled chlorophenols degradation, a potential remediation for fungicides residues in leather Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Min Cao, Auteur ; Jie Yu, Auteur ; Xing Zhang, Auteur ; Yamei Lin, Auteur ; He Huang, Auteur Année de publication : 2022 Article en page(s) : 11 p. Note générale : Bibliogr.

On distingue trois types.

Remédiation (technologie)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Chlorophenols, used as the fungicides in leather, are strictly limited in leather products. In this work, a metal–organic framework material, zeolitic metal azolate framework-7 (MAF-7), was first used to encapsulate laccase (Lac) to prepare MAF-7/Lac bio-composites with 98.5% immobilization yield. Afterward, Lac/MNP@MOM was formed by introducing the magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) into the Lac@MOM. MAF-7 with better hydrophilicity and stronger pH buffering ability, exhibits good compatibility with laccase, which can reserve the activity of laccase after immobilization. Moreover, the porous structure of MAF-7 is favorable for the sufficient contact between laccase and substrates. Lac/MNP@MOM exhibited excellent activity when exposed to high temperature, extreme pH, and organic solvents, which also simplified complex recovery steps. Furthermore, the degradation rate of 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP) could reach as high as 97% within 24 h by immobilized laccase, and after nine consecutive cycles of operation, enzyme activity could remain over 80%, which gives it the potential for practical applications. PancréatineIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This review paper aims at investigating the degradation mechanism of an automotive clear coat caused by bird droppings. Natural bird droppings and their synthetic equivalent (pancreatin) were utilized for this purpose. The presence of highly etched areas on the surface of coatings and structural variations of clear coat after being attacked by these materials corresponded to a catalyzed hydrolytic degradation. This finding was obtained using different analytical techniques. Based on these studies, three possible hypotheses were presented, including acid catalysis, metal ion catalysis, and enzymatic catalysis. The conditions required for the occurrence of each hypothesis were discussed. It was found that acid and metal ions have a weak contribution to catalyze the hydrolysis reaction of clear coat, whereas enzymes existing in bird droppings were mainly responsible for this hydrolytic degradation.
