It has a pleasant silky feel, good moisturising properties and good spreadability, all due to its important origin from olive oil. The gel network stabilizes the emulsion, absorbs on the skin and reduces transepidermal water-loss without solubilizing skin proteins and lipids. SurfactantsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : There are waterborne binders with enhanced dry film properties and present application data comparing conventional and copolymerisable surfactants.
Surfactants are essential components in the synthesis of emulsion polymers for controlling particle size and colloidal stability of the latex and in downstream formulations. Common surfactants used in latex synthesis, however, have poor compatibility with the hydrophobic polymer phase. Surfactant desorption in the wet state can cause particle flocculation upon storage or handling. Poor stability during film formation has a dramatic effect on dry film properties. Porous films result with poor pigment binding and protective properties. Phase separation and accumulation of surfactant into hydrophilic domains during film formation affects water whitening, blocking resistance and mechanical properties.
Non-migratory surfactants (NMS) become grafted on to the surface of polymer particles. Latex stability is enhanced, which positively affects shelf life, formulation ease and barrier properties.
Use of reactive surfactants is relevant for various application areas :
- Architectural coatings with better pigment binding properties
- Protective coatings with superior barrier properties or lower water diffusion rates
- Pressure sensitive adhesives with superior mechanical properties
This paper presents application data comparing conventional and copolymerisable surfactants.
NMS technology allows development of waterborne polylmer systems and dry films that does notshow the drawbacks commonly associated with the presence of surfactants.Note de contenu : - SURFACTANTS AS ROOT CAUSE FOR POOR PERFORMANCE

Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Materials - Methods - Risk assessment : screening the critical factors and defining the critical control points

Emulsions have been prepared from five commercial greasing [fatliquor] products as 10% emulsions which were tested in the pH range from 4 to 8.
Mean particle size, fraction number and dispersion coefficients of tested systems are presented. Based on the results obtained it was found that samples with emulsions containing lanolin and samples with emulsions containing mixtures of synthetic and natural oils showed the best stability.Note de contenu : - Materials - Determination of mean particle size and particle distribution of fat emulsions

The PN/G-WPU was synthesized by covalently embedding phosphoramidate-based diol into polyurethane chain, followed by emulsification with graphene oxide (GO) aqueous solution and in-situ reduced with hydrazine hydrate. The structure and emulsion stability of prepared PN/G-WPU were characterized, and the physical mechanical properties as well as the flammability of resulting leathers were investigated. The results indicate the good dispersion and strong interfacial interaction of graphene with polyurethane matrix, which facilitates the PN/G-WPU penetrating into leather fibers. The PN/G-WPU retanning agent can effectively improve the comprehensive performance of resultant leather such as hydrothermal stability, physical-mechanical properties, flame retardancy and smoke suppression performance. Accordingly, our method might provide an alternative strategy for manufacturing high-performance leather.
