ThermogravimétrieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The present paper discusses the adsorption and desorption kinetics of silica coated on cotton (CO) and polyester (PES) textile fabrics. Surfaces of CO and PES textile were coated by the sol–gel process using tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) and chloropropyltriethoxysilane (CPTS) as silica precursors. The silica concentration was determined according to NF T90-007 standard. The kinetic adsorption data for CO samples can be described by the pseudo-first order and by the pseudo-second order for those of PES. The highest adsorption and desorption rate of silica was found for CO fabrics treated with CPTS and TEOS, respectively. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) was carried out to statistically verify the result found from adsorption and desorption experimental manipulations. The results of silica adsorption and desorption were statistically analyzed according to ANOVA test with a significance level of 0.05. Scanning electron microscopy observations were taken to assess the effect of desorption in the morphology of the coated fabrics. The mechanical properties of textile fabrics were investigated by the uniaxial traction test according to NF EN ISO 13934-1:2013 standard. Thermogravimetric analysis was used to investigate the thermal stability of fabrics in air. The results showed that both the mechanical and thermal properties of textile samples after silica desorption did not change radically. Also, their water repellency remained significant even after the desorption test.

ASTM D638 test standard is used for the preparation of specimens for tensile tests. The optimization technique has been used to determine the optimal combinations of FFF process parameters for the validation of experimental tensile tests and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. From the results obtained the optimum cooling fan speed of 79.3%, extrusion temperature of 214.4 °C, printing speed of 75.9 mm/s, raster width of 0.4814 mm, and shell number 5 were determined with a 2.266% error of the tensile strength (45.06 MPa). SEM morphology examination shows that the fabricated part cooled at 80% cooling fan speed illustrates good inter-layer bond strength which is also confirmed by CFD temperature distributions analysis.

Taguchi, Méthodes de (Contrôle de qualité)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The present study concentrates on development of conceptual proof for sisal reinforced polymer matrix composite for structural applications subjected to low velocity impact using a finite element (FE) approach. The proposed sisal-epoxy composite of various thicknesses of 3.2 mm, 4 mm and 4.8 mm is subjected to different impact velocities of 1 m/s, 2 m/s and 3 m/s ranging in the low velocity impact regime to study the energy absorbed and damage mitigation behaviour of the proposed composite. The consequence of velocity of impact and thickness of laminate on the sisal epoxy composite’s impact behaviour is assessed statistically using Taguchi’s experimental design. Outcome of the present study discloses that the energy absorption increases with increased impact velocity and laminate thickness. However, the statistical study shows that impact velocity is predominant factor affecting the impact response of sisal epoxy composite laminate compared to laminate thickness. The role of matrix and fiber in damage initiation is studied using Hashin criteria and it is found that matrix failure is predominant over the fiber failure. Taguchi, Méthodes de (Contrôle de qualité)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The deflection and deformation behaviour of a 30% weight fraction glass-polyester sandwich panel was studied as a function of graphite filler quantity and impact velocity. Experiments based on Taguchi methods were carried out in order to collect data systematically. The panel is fastened on three sides and left free for the destructive test. By applying the impact force. The vibration data collector is used to measure the deflection (TVC 200). During the destructive test, the panel is additionally fastened to a solid base for stability. The steel hammer came crashing down from above. A Vernier calliper is used to measure the distortion. The tests were planned using Taguchi's L9 orthogonal array method. Examine the effects of impact force, height, and graphite filler content on low-velocity deflections and deformations using analysis of variance. The findings demonstrate that the mass is the primary parameter influencing the deflection, whereas the graphite filler is the primary parameter influencing the deformation. As a last step, a confirmation tests have been run to make sure the predicted experimental outcomes from those correlations were correct. Note de contenu : - Materials and specimen preparation

Test d'immersionIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Ethiopia has one of the world’s largest livestock resources. However, the effects of disease, inadequate nutrition and management constrain the potential of this resource. Ectoparasites are one of the primary contributing factors in the tanneries for sheep and goat skin rejection. The aim of this study is to assess the impact of medicinal herbal plant extracts on ectoparasites (ticks) on small ruminants in Ethiopia. According to scientific and ethnomedical data gathered from respondents (farmers), the plant species P. dodecandra, E. globulus, C. macrostachyus, J. schimperiana, and C. aurea were used (by farmers) for the study. Phytochemical screening of extracts revealed the presence of flavonoids, alkaloids, phenols and saponins, tannins. Ticks from small ruminants (i.e goat and sheep) were collected and an in vitro adult tick immersion test was carried out using concentrations of 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50, and 100 mg/ml of all medicinal plant extracts. The temporal tick mortality was observed within 24-hours. In order to compare the results, distilled water and 12.5% amitraz was used as positive and negative controls, respectively. After 24 hours of exposure, P. dodecandra, J. schimperiana, and C. macrostachyus extracts had a moderate (60%) effect on tick mortality; however, C. aurea extract at 100 mg/ml and E. globulus extract at 50 mg/ml and 100 mg/ml had the highest mortality rate (80%). The study found that following in vitro treatment for the studied plants, the mean tick mortality increased considerably with increasing concentration and exposure duration. The existence of phytochemicals (active ingredients) in several plants, such as phenols, flavonoids, alkaloids, tannin, saponin, etc., may be the cause of their anti-ectoparasite effects. The study’s findings suggested that these plants might be crucial in reducing the need for chemical based medicines as well as managing the population of resistant ticks in an environmentally friendly manner.
