The results of a life cycle management study on automotive painting that considers both economic and environmental aspects are presented. Significant benefits can be obtained by combining two painting stages into a single operation. Note de contenu : - Life cycle management considers environmental and economic aspects
- Multi-valued methodology is needed
- Environmental survey based on recognised standards
- Existing paint process can be optimised
- Key process steps and conditions defined
- Economic and environmental boundaries differ
- Energy use reduced
- Evaluation concept can be extended in several ways
- Main impacts of new process summarised
- FIGURES : 1. Morphological approach for a holistic comparison of technologies - 2. Basis for activity-based cost calculations - 3. Matières plastiques -- Aspect de l'environnementIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Material selection - Depending on the region in the world where they are produced or to which they are exported, plastics used in electronic and electrical components must fulfill specific environmental protection requirements. At the same time these conditions also drive the search for alternative or concomitant and newly developed materials. EvaluationIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Energy supply has always been a high cost for tanneries. Thermal energy is usually supplied with fossil fuels. In previous papers, the authors have shown a real possibility in the use of renewable energies such a solar thermal energy in tanneries around the world. However, the amount of electricity needed in the tannery process is much higher and this electricity usually is taken from the grid. Lately, the price of this resource has been increasing rapidly. Up to now renewable energies for electricity production have not been considered and only a few tanneries, mainly in Europe, use cogeneration as electricity supply despite the economic benefits of this technology. In this paper, the authors will present a viability study for the use of renewable energies for electricity supply in tanneries. The renewable energies considered are solar photovoltaic energy and wind energy. Note de contenu : - Energy demand
