The new silicone technology developed at Tremco utilizes a polymeric reinforcing technique. It has allowed the minimization of several shortcomings like short tooling time and the tendency to stain and pick up dirt without compromising other performance properties. As a result there has been a very positive response from the field and end users. It has given rise to a new family of silicone products that are easy to use and well suited for a variety of substrates like EIFS, Dryvit, marble, stone, granite, brick, concrete, etc. Note de contenu : - New technical approach

Revêtements -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The author outlines ways in which companies can formulate cost-effective sheen and side sheen products with improved stain resistance and ease of stain removal properties.
Ease of cleaning and stain removal are qualities that are high on the agenda when developing new premium quality decorative coatings. In many markets this attribute is juged by the scrub or wear (how easy or difficult it is to remove or how much film weight is lost after so many abrasion cycles) resistance of the coating (the standards vary from region to region but are normally set as so many % film weight loss after a set number of cycles). However in many markets (e.g. North America, some parts of the Asia Pacific region) this attribute is now being judged differently. It is now important whether or not the paint film is prone to staining (with readily available, common household stains) and whether such stains are easily removed by gentle cleaning.Note de contenu : - EVALUATION

Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : To protect surfaces against marine biofouling, the continuous leaching of biocides, such as cuprous oxide (Cu2O) and copper pyrithione (CuPT), from antifouling coatings is a widespread and effective method. However, from an environmental and economic perspective (costs of raw materials), a high biocide loading of formulations is not sustainable. Silica aerogel-encapsulated CuPT is a promising approach to reduce Cu2O and CuPT loadings without compromising the mechanical properties and antifouling performance of the coating. In the present study, silica aerogels, with varying CuPT loadings, were incorporated into model coating formulations, and selected coating properties, i.e., rheology, water absorption, and hardness, were measured and evaluated. Furthermore, to demonstrate antifouling performance, static exposure testing with the aerogel-containing coatings was performed. The level of CuPT loading of the silica aerogels did not have a significant influence on neither the water absorption nor the rheology of the coating. However, an increase in the CuPT loading of the aerogel from 0 to 80 wt% reduced the coating’s pendulum hardness from 61 to 37 s. Additionally, compared to a reference coating with nonencapsulated CuPT, results demonstrate that a coating containing silica aerogel-encapsulated CuPT provides a 17% higher antifouling resistance when evaluated according to guidance from The European Chemicals Agency.

TributylétainIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Biofouling is a major issue for many industries including shipping, oil, and gas and can lead to accelerated corrosion, particularly for structures and components in and around salt water. Many efforts are undertaken to lessen its impact and financial losses. One of the promising methodologies is application of antibiofouling coatings to minimize biofouling, and the best results were observed with a superhydrophobic coating. Ample literature reviews on superhydrophobic coating have shown biofouling inhibition on the surface due to high wetting angles similar to the phenomenon on a lotus leaf. The hydrophobic coating can be deposited using multiple techniques such as electroless plating, chemical vapor deposition (CVD), sol–gel, and electrodeposition. In this review, an effort has been made to encompass such experimental work under a single domain and compare the effectiveness of each coating. In addition, mechanical properties and surface characteristics such as wetting angle, surface energy, and morphology were also discussed for various types of polymeric coating. Similarly, the application of nanoparticles such as ZnO, SiO2, TiO2, and CeO2 was found to improve the substrate's mechanical properties, the durability of coatings, improvement in wear properties, adhesion, interlaminar cohesion, and increased wetting angle and above all, improve superhydrophobicity. These improvements are compared for various nanoparticle integrated coatings. In addition, other novel approaches to prevent marine biofouling by various polymer-based coatings such as superhydrophobic, foul-release, and foul-resistant coatings are discussed in this paper. Salissures biologiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In India, construction is the second largest economic activity alter agriculture. Construction accounts for nearly 65 per cent of the total investment in infrastructure and is expected to be the biggest beneficiary of the surge in infrastructure investment over the next five years. Investment in construction accounts for nearly 11 per cent of India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). As opportunities in the sector continue to come to the fore, foreign direct investment has been moving upwards.
This article covers basic principles of two-component waterborne polyurethane coatings and its applications for both walls and floors in construction areas. It also presents the results based on intensive lab evaluations with different combinations of polyol dispersions and hydrophilic polyisocyanates for performance adjustment in order to meet different performance and cost requirements. The coatings can be easy-to-clean, anti-graffiti for the use of exterior/interior walls, interior walls for hospitals, schools & kindergartens, electronic plants, food processing workshops, kitchens, metro stations etc. It can also be used as topcoat of floor coatings for commercial and industrial areas with excellent abrasion resistance, scratch resistance & chemical resistance. The real life cases will be analyzed in this article as well.Note de contenu : - APPLICATIONS
