Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : This study shows that first and second derivative UV spectrophotometry are useful for the analysis of OPP and PCMC respectively when present together. Linear calibration graphs were established over a concentration trange of 10-50 µg/ml.
The results were found to be comparable to GC-MSD data. The application of this simple and rapid technique for the analysis of OPP and PCMC in leather preservative formulations is described.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mnPdq7JPG38UkJZ1BMJ-PD6anMhf-ZYS/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8114

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The three problems of the current methods for the objective evaluation of leather handle are analysed and as an alternative, a new approach with artificial neural networks is proposed. This case study, demonstrates that the new approach is capable of handling non-linear relationships among multiple parameters of leather physical properties, and satisfying the preferences of leather handle. More importantly, it could be used to objectively evaluate the handle types and different substances of leather. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The efficacy of three commercially available fungicides was determined on 20 fungal species and nine yeast species isolated from Turkish vegetable tanned sole leathers, chrome tanned hides (blue stock), 1-2 years and older chrome tanned leather, new and used shoes, and human feet. Each of the isolated organisms, whether fungi or yeast were treated with a series of dilutions of the fungicides to determine their relative effectiveness.
The active ingredients of the commercially available fungicides were : isotiazoline and a quaternary ammonium compound (Fungicide 1A), benzthiazole (Fungicide B), and p-chloro-m-cresol with o-phenylphenol (Fungicide C). Fungal attack was controlled with fungicide A at a 1:16 dilution, fungicide C were more effective than fungicide B in controlling fungal growth on leather. Fungicide A at 1:128 dilution, fungicide B at 1:64 dilution and fungicide C at 1:128 dilution exerted complete protection against yeast growth.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1suUFroIcVc9jJ25z22d1vlsbATbsDtOp/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8122

Titre : Histological structure of hides and crossbreeds by italian beef breed bulls and the physical properties of the leather Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Piotr Zapletal, Auteur ; J. Szarek, Auteur ; A. Weglarz, Auteur ; E. Gardzina, Auteur Année de publication : 1996 Article en page(s) : p. 118-119 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The introduction of new breeds for commercial crossing requires an insight into changes in the histological structure of the skins. Experiments were carried out on crossbreeds from black-and-white cows X italian beef bulls : Piemontese, Chianina and Marcjigiana, the control group being young black-and-white bulls.
At slaughter, skin tissue samples were collected for histological and ultrastructural studies. The skins of the italian beef bull breed crosses were characterised by a very well formed splicing of the collagen fibres and a dense network of elastin fibres. A higher proportion of the reticular layer (corium) and the grain sublayer (upper part of the grain layer, above the sebaceous and sweat glands) (8) were found in the dermis of the crossbreeds. This considerably increased the values of the mechanical parameters of the skins. Differences in the tensile and tear strengths of the leather between the piemontese and marchigiana crosses were statistically significant (P<0.05). The properties of the interweaving and spacing of the collagen fibres were highly correlated to the tensile and tear strengths.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/15905PQpt6VYPdweD3_JjHITc2bRjXGDH/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8123

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A vegetable-zinc combination tannage on lambskin has been studied, with special attention being given to the intended final product, in an attempt to optimise the process. This kind of chrome-free tannage enables us to obtain leathers with a shrinkage temperature above 100°C.
The research was carried out in two stages. First, the possible influence of several parameters was studied with the help of an experimental design of the 2v5-1 type. These parameters included the extract and zinc salt used temperature, whether or not tannage had taker place in the same bath and the basification system.
In the second stage research followed a centralised experimental design of the second order. This ought to enable us to assess the influence of the vegetable extract (mimosa, quebracho, chestnut) and zinc sulphate offers on the final product.
The conclusions of the final stage were reached by means of analysis of the response surfaces obtained for the main physical and chemical properties involved.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/15VI2kQdmGlD_QDqkJAFDxaeI1Mvnbtc7/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8126

Tannage Résumé : Beam house operations in a large tannery involve handling large quantities of lime in powder form. Ever increasingly stringent environmental regulations, emphasize the need for minimization and cleaner use of lime. The advantages and disadvantages of using lime in powder form and slurry form are discussed. A process for using lime in slurry form and the economics of adopting a lime slurry plant in a tannery are presented. This system has been commercially implemented and is giving encouraging results.
