GantsIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The studies assessed grain leather texture profile to objectively and precisely define their organoreptic characteristics two groups of rabbitskin hybrids, 12 pieces each : Group 1 : Belgian Giant Gray x Burgundy (BOS x BU), Group H : Belgian Giant Gray x White New Zeeland (BOS x BNZ). Hides subjected to a dressing for gloves.
The research have shown a significant correlation between features, assessed sensory and instrumental. In the case of investigational leathers elasticity were significantly correlated with fullness in touch. It also showed the relationship between the hardness measured instrumentally, and softness and toughness evaluated organoleptically. The measurement results of texture parameters show that can be objectively assess and compare features, which are usually defined by our senses such as hardness, elasticity and flexibility.Note de contenu : - FIGURES : 1. Experiments were carried out on crossbreeds from black-and-white cows X italian beef bulls : Piemontese, Chianina and Marcjigiana, the control group being young black-and-white bulls.
At slaughter,skin tissue samples were collected for histological and ultrastructural studies. The skins of the italian beef bull breed crosses were characterised by a very well formed splicing of the collagen fibres and a dense network of elastin fibres. A higher proportion of the reticular layer (corium) and the grain sublayer (upper part of the grain layer, above the sebaceous and sweat glands) (8) were found in the dermis of the crossbreeds. This considerably increased the values of the mechanical parameters of the skins. Differences in the tensile and tear strengths of the leather between the piemontese and marchigiana crosses were statistically significant (P<0.05). Ten-month old kid leather crossbreeds from crossing white goats up graded by bucks of boer and nubian breeds have the required values of strength and sensory characteristics desirable for the production of gloves and clothing. Leather PB x B crossbreeds had lower tensile strength than that determined as adequate by the standard for leather clothing. Marchigiana-M and Chianina-.Ch) and with Aberdeen Angus (AA) breed as well as that of pure Black-and—White breed with AA and Simmental (S) bulls, on the histological structure of skin tissue and properties of the collagen fibres. Knowledge of the arrangement and structure of' collagen fibres of the studied skins may be helpful in choosing the correct technological process for their dressing, or in developing a new one which would result in a better utilisation of raw material.
It can be stated that analysis of’ photographs of skin tissue under scanning electron microscopy (SEM) corresponds with the results of fibre measurements conducted under a light microscope. Skin tissue of bulls (CB x P) x AA and CB x AA showed the smallest spacing between the bundles of collagen fibres. The largest number of fibres in a bundle was contained in the skins of crossbreeds (CB x M) x AA and (CB x P) x AA. In contrast. the skins of S and (CB x Ch) x AA. crossbreeds (CB x M) x AA and (CB x P) x AA were characterised by a largest number of fine fibres in a bundle. Based on an organoleptic assessment the latter skin tissue displayed higher fineness and softness as well as better elasticity.
The thickness of the collagen fibres was relatively greater in the skins of those breed groups. which were characterised by a smaller number of fibres in a bundle. A high content of collagen in the skin of Simmental and CB x S bulls is indicative of its extended structure and denser network.Note de contenu : - Table 1 : Selected parameters of skin histological structure

The hides were tanned and their value was assessed in technological groups. The highest coefficient of skin surface area efficiency and best physico-chemical and organoleptic traits were displayed by crossbred bulls from black-and-white cows X piementese and Chianina bulls.
