Energie solaire
Peinture solaireIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Continuous decrease of reserves of fossil fuels has sparked a wave of innovation in energy. As the world's energy consumption set to increase 35 percent by 2035, the need to develop renewable and cleaner alternatives is becoming very important. Among wind, water, biomass and nuclear, solar power has a significant role to play, especially in developing areas with high levels of sunlight. Hence the necessity is felt to develop the "solar paint ". The idea is that you can solar-paint on to various surfaces regardless of shape, e.g., sides of buildings, roofs, vehicles and just about any other structure you can think of that faces the sun. Right now, solar paint is not as efficient as silicon-based solar panels and this is the single major hurdle researchers are facing before solar paint is commercially viable. Solar paint is mostly stuck in the single digits — between 3 % and 11 % depending on the technology used. Various universities are working on different technologies to improve the efficiency. In this review those various routes to produce solar paints will be discussed in details. Note de contenu : - Traditional solar cells recent developments

Sol-gel, ProcédéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The increase in energy production costs for fossil fuels has led to a search for an economically viable alternative energy source. One alternative energy source of particular interest is solar energy. A promising alternative to inorganic materials is organic semiconductor polymer solar cells due to their advantages of being cheaper, light weight, flexible and made into large areas by roll-to-roll processing. However, the conventional architecture that is typically used for fabricating solar cells requires high vacuum to deposit the top metal electrode which is not suitable for roll-to-rolI processing. Anti-reflective coatings (ARCs) have evolved into highly effective reflectance and glare reducing components for various optical and opto-electrical equipments. Extensive research in optical and biological reflectance min im ization as wel I as the emergence of nanotechnology over the years has contributed to the enhancement of ARCs in a major way. In this review the prime objective is to give a comprehensive idea of the ARCs right from their inception, as they were originally conceptualized by the pioneers and lay down the basic concepts and strategies adopted to minimize reflectance. Antireflective coatings for solar cover glasses and photocatalytic coatings for self-cleaning glasses are two types of nano-functionalized thin films, which are extensively investigated at present. Résistance à la flammeIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Fire resistance polymers are resistance to degradation at high temperature. Fire resistance polymer is required in construction, electronic and electric equipments. Some fire-safe polymers naturally exhibit an intrinsic resistance to decomposition, while others are synthesized by incorporating fire-resistant additives and fillers. Role of oxygen, heating rate and pressure play vital role in deciding fore resistance of polymer. Solid Phase Char-Formation and Quench & Cool are two mechanisms are involved in fire resistance process. An endothermic environment is created by producing non-combustible products, or add chemicals that would remove fire-propagating radicals (H and OH) etc. These specific chemicals can be added into the polymer molecules permanently or as additives and fillers. The polymers that are most efficient at resisting combustion are those that are synthesized as intrinsically fire-resistant. Halogenated polymers such as PVC and PTFE are best example of intrinsically fire-resistant polymers. Most intrinsically fire-resistant polymers are made by incorporation of aromatic cycles or heterocycles, which lend rigidity and stability to the polymers. Inorganic and sem i-organ ic polymers often employ silicon-nitrogen, boron-nitrogen, and phosphorous -nitrogen monomers. The non-burning characteristics of the inorganic components of these polymers contribute to their controlled flammability. Externally additives are added to improve fire resistance properties. Two types of additives are used namely Reactive flame retardants and Additive flame retardants. Flame-retardant additives and fillers have disadvantages as well. Their poor compatibility, high volatility and other deleterious effects can change properties of polymers. Fire resistance of polymer is evaluated by Limiting oxygen index (LOI), Underwriters Laboratory (UL94), Horizontal Burning Test (94HB), Vertical Burning Test (94V). Note de contenu : - Role of oxygen

This operation is a key step in the procedure, designed to help produce a Iustrous final finish. The sealer is a thin film of a low solids, low pigmentation product, applied to the wood to raise and stiffen the fibres or "nibs" so that subsequent sanding will remove the imperfections and provide a smooth surface for the lacquer topcoat. Ramsay, WilliamIndex. décimale : 540 Chimie et sciences connexes Résumé : Sir William Ramsay, a British physical chemist, received the 1904 Nobel Prize in Chemistry "in recognition of his services in the discovery of the inert gaseous elements in air, and his determination of their place in the periodic system". The 'Noble' gases are unique as they have a full complement of valence electrons and therefore do not exhibit any inclination to undergo chemical reactions. Other elements react in order to acquire such a complete valence shell. The inert nature of these elements called for a resourceful and persistent researcher of the calibre of Sir William to detect them.
