Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Standards and solvents - Calibration of standards - Sample preparation - HPLC-UV analysis - Method validation

Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Nanocomposites based on isotactic polypropylene (PP) and nanosilica (SiO2) were prepared using a co-rotating twinscrew extruder (TSE). The effect of operating variables, such as screw speed and screw configuration on the dispersion of nanosilica in the polymer matrix has been studied, using TEM imaging. High shear stress, sufficient residence time, and high fill ratio in the melting section of the screw were the most important factors in achieving good nanosilica dispersion. Furthermore, the effects of filler loading and amount of a maleated polypropylene (PP-g-MA) compatibilizer on the degree of SiO2 dispersion were investigated. The foaming performance of the composites was evaluated using a batch foaming simulation system, and an extrusion foaming setup that employed respectively N2 and CO2 blowing agents. Well-dispersed surface-modified hydrophobic SiO2 particles acted as effective nucleating agents for foaming, when used at loadings below 1 phr. Lee, Auteur ; M.-Y. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : The creep performance of plastics is one of the main criteria for a variety of applications which requires a strict dimensional stability, including electrical/electronic parts and various automotive applications. However, obtaining or generating accurate creep data is very difficult for both resin suppliers and product designers because the creep property is time dependent, which means it takes over several weeks or even a year of time span. Hence a faster and more reliable method predicting creep behavior of plastics is needed when designing plastic products that will encounter long-term loading. This work presents an easy method for predicting the long-term creep behavior of plastics using the short-term creep experimental data. The flexural creep experiments of three plastics, ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), PC/ABS (PC and ABS alloy) and LFT (Long fiber reinforced thermoplastics), are performed. For a quick and reliable prediction of long-term creep behavior of plastics, time regional power-law model and time-stress modulus are introduced. To analyze the reliability and validity of the proposed method, the creep analyses based on the proposed method are performed. The comparison between the FEA results and the creep tests has shown that the new method can track both primary and secondary creep behavior over a long time. The creep analyses have been carried out by commercial FE Code. DOI : 10.3139/217.1826 Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=3116

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Three dimensional flow and structural analyses were carried out for film insert injection molding in order to evaluate the warpage and long term viscoelastic deformation of the film insert molded (FIM) tensile specimen. The predicted warpage after ejection and annealing was utilized as the input to the orthogonal array in order to obtain priority of significant factors and optimum molding conditions. Various injection molding factors influenced the degree of shrinkage of the injected substrate, i.e., packing pressure and mold wall temperature difference determined warpage of the FIM part after ejection. Warpage of the annealed FIM part was affected mainly by heat treatment conditions of the inserted film and annealing time of the part because annealing conditions had larger effects than the other processing factors. Optimum processing conditions and the relative significance of processing factors were obtained for warpage of FIM parts by using the Taguchi's method.
