In this paper, a polymer composite has been developed using specific grade epoxy matrix and “particular micron size” bamboo filler and its different mechanical properties have been investigated. The mechanical properties were determined with a variation in different constraints like filler content, strain rate, temperature and chemical treatment to establish the applicability of the developed composite. From the results, it has been found that the static and dynamic mechanical properties of the developed composite are significantly influenced by the different parameters. The scanning electron micrographs demonstrated the even dispersion of particulate fillers in the matrix, agglomeration at higher filler loading and better adhesion due to alkali treatment. Also, the properties are comparable with the existing different bamboo based composite.

This paper took advantage of the predominant fatty acid composition in CSO (i.e., ricinoleic acid). It blended a synthesized crosslinker, poly(epichlorohydrin-triol) (PECH-triol), in percentages within its polymeric matrix. Physicochemical and spectroscopic (FTIR, 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR) examinations were carried out on the polyols. Thermal stability, hydrophobicity, anticorrosion, mechanical, and antibacterial properties of the prepared polyurethane (PU) coatings were examined. The 20% PECH-triol–CSO-PU film having its TON and TEND at 230.5 and 511.0°C, respectively, showed improved thermal stability when compared with the pristine film (CSO-PU). The derivative of TGA reveals a three-stage degradation step. Hydrophobicity was seen to increase from 73.3° to 92.2°, a reflection of the crosslinking effect of PECH-triol within the urethane matrix. The improved adhesion of 20% PECH-triol–CSO-PU coating on mild steel gave a better chemical resistance. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Materials - Preparation - Characterization

The study consists of optimization of reaction conditions for making DDM isomer mixture containing at least 75 % of 4,4'-DDM isomer. Out of the three catalysts studied (H ZSM 5, H Beta and CBV 720), CBV 720 was found to perform well. CBV 720 was furthermodified with boric acid, phosphoric acid and tetra ethyl ortho silicate to prepare new catalysts with comparable efficacy. The DDM mixture made with boron modified CBV 720 was found suitable for preparing a polyester imide wire enamel resin. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : A novel method for the continuous dispersion of carbon nanofibers (CNFs) in a polymer matrix for manufacturing high performance nanocomposites was developed using an ultrasonically assisted single screw extrusion process. The effect of ultrasound on die pressure, electrical and thermal conductivity, rheological, morphological and mechanical properties of polyetherimide (PEI) filled with 1 to 20 wt.% CNFs was studied. A reduction in the die pressure and percolation threshold of CNF/PEI nanocomposites with a permanent increase in the viscosity and a permanent decrease in tan delta was achieved through ultrasonic treatment. Morphological studies of the treated nanocomposites revealed their improved homogeneity leading to an increase of the Young's modulus and electrical and thermal conductivity.
