Titre : Does dyeing practice need dyeing theory ? Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : James Park, Auteur ; John Shore, Auteur Année de publication : 2008 Article en page(s) : p. 339-343 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : It has been indicated that much of the practical data for dyeing processes available has never been exploited by the dye application industry, although dye research and development programmes have often identified targets with sucessful outcomes. Products and processes originated by dye makers have had a major impact on the success of practical dyeing, resulting in improved reproducibility and right-first-time processing. Dyeing theory research has consumed substantial resources invested by die makers and academic institutions, buty many of these studies have failed to yield useful data that could be applied directly in practical dyeing systems. The generation of detailed standard operating procesures has provided the conditions for achieving effective controle over the practical dyeing process, an objective that was once thought to be attainable eventually by the refinement of dyeing theories. Titre : Evolution of right-first-time dyeing production Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : James Park, Auteur ; John Shore, Auteur Année de publication : 2009 Article en page(s) : p. 133-140 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : The concept of right-first-time production has become an essential feature of textile processing to enable companies to remain competitive and profitable through the many benefits achieved by this concept, not least the major cost savings that are obtained. It is perhaps surprising that no formal research and development programme was ever undertaken to achieve right-first-time in practical dyeing processes. The successful evolution of the concept depended on work carried out over many years by a relatively small number of organisations. Many application research and development projects were carried out, mainly with the laboratory, pilot-plant and bulk-scale equipment of the major users and manufacturers of dyes and equipment, to elucidate the important factors in achieving this concept.
