Twenty leathers samples were successively colored with this method in a laboratory scale trial. The dye exhaustion (%), the color values and the color rub fastnesses were determined. Also, the grain surface and the cross-section of the leathers were analyzed before and after dyeing. As presented, it only required 5 minutes to color with this method and the dye exhaustions averaged 2.3%, helpful for the recycling of the dye solution. The color for the test group of ten leathers varied within a small range ( ?E <1) when the solution was directly recycled without dye replenishment. The color fastnesses reached as much as the 4-5 dry rub scale and 3 wet rub scale after the leathers were coated with a typical shoe upper finishing formula. Furthermore, the grain and the collagen fibers were not significantly damaged during the dyeing process as demonstrated by Scanning Electron Microscope and X-ray diffraction analysis. In summary, this clean and quick dyeing could be considered a potential option for leather dyeing. Produits de nourriture du cuirIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Leathers fatliquored with sulfited fish oil were irradiated with microwave at various intensities, then their physical properties and the microstructure of collagen fibers were investigated to show the roles of microwave field. As confirmed, the free and capillary moisture in leather were firstly removed by microwave radiation, accompanying with diminution in area. However, the hydrothermal stability of leather was scarcely altered. Scanning Electron Microscope images indicated that the dispersion of collagen fibers was not destroyed with microwave exposure. In addition, the characteristic D-periodicity and microstructure for the collagen were changed little as revealed by Atomic Force Microscope and X-ray Diffraction studies. Furthermore, there was some improvement in the softness of leathers because of migration of oil and its uniform distribution. These results could be helpful for understanding the roles of microwave technique in leather industry. SilanesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Corrosion resistance and active protection performance of organic coatings can be improved by incorporation of corrosion inhibitor-loaded nanocontainers. Herein, 1H, 1H, 2H, 2H-perfluorooctyltriethoxysilane (FTES) as a green corrosion inhibitor was encapsulated in hollow mesoporous silica (HMS). FTES-loaded HMS (FHMS) was embedded in an epoxy coating on the surface of the magnesium (Mg) alloy. Artificial defect in FHMS-loaded epoxy coating was made by needle punching. The long-term anticorrosion behavior and self-healing properties of the modified coating were evaluated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). In all cases, FHMS can enhance corrosion resistance of the epoxy coating. Among all the FHMS-loaded coatings, the coating containing 0.5 wt% FHMS (FHMS-0.5%) still exhibits excellent corrosion protection performance after 2688 h of immersion. Meanwhile, it shows superior self-healing ability in the scratched areas. These are attributed to the fact that FTES released from HMS nanoparticles can interact with the epoxy coating and the Mg alloy substrate. Moreover, FTES silane can also form a crosslinked Si-O-Si network by itself. Spectroscopie d'impédance électrochimiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Defective epoxy varnish and hydrofluoric acid-doped polyaniline/epoxy (PANI-HF/EP) coatings were coated on the surface of an AZ91D magnesium alloy. The corrosion protection of the defective coatings was evaluated in 0.05 M NaCl by localized electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Then, the surface of AZ91D magnesium alloy beneath the coating was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The results indicated that the defective epoxy varnish coating could not protect the magnesium alloy because it only served as an electrolyte barrier. By contrast, the PANI-HF/EP coating served not only as an electrolyte barrier, but also facilitated the formation of a protective layer by redox processes. Therefore, the defective PANI-HF/EP coating could protect magnesium alloy from corrosion. A series of UV-WFPUA materials were synthesized with different contents of hexafluorobutyl methacrylate (HFBMA) and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. When the content of HFBMA was 10%, the UV-WFPUA-3 material exhibited good mechanical properties and excellent hydrophobicity. The iron sheet was selected to simulate an iron artifact sample in this study. The obtained results indicated that the prepared UV-WFPUA material could provide excellent protective properties for simulated iron artifacts.
