As well as providing emotional references to products, the scent can also act as an olfactory advertisement, promoting the product to people within close proximity to the user who can then provide that most sought after buying prompt : personal recommendation.
Fragrance has had a major part to play also with the domination of naturels in the cosmetics market. It is all well and good consumers being told there are natural ingredients in a product, but it is the scent that really delivers the message to the consumer. ParfumsIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Fragrance is one of the most important aspects of personal care products, providing a huge degree of sensory input and in many cases creating the clearest point of differenciation between one product and its competitors. But as with many other areas of the industry, fragrances have been affected by the "free-from" trend, creating additional hurdles for formulators. However, there are also plenty of opportunities to use innovative, multifunctional ingredients that offer natural scent without issues of sensitisation. Formulating with fragrances can be problematic, and that is why there are several ingredients here to help make the task easier. Other issues include being able to mask the unwanted odours of other ingredients used as part of the formulation. This is just a small sample of the ingredients out there to help you formulate with fragrances.
