Vanadate de bismuthIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Bismuth vanadate pigments offer high performance but can be bleached by alkalis. So far there is no agreed test method for this, and colour change has been evaluated subjectively against the Grey Scale. A new test method uses pigments in an appropriate paint and provides accurate and repeatable measurements expressed as CieLab colour shifts. Vanadate de bismuthIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : This article deals with Bismuth vanadates' high performance yellow pigments and their applications.
Commercially available since the mid-1990s, Bismuth Vanadates(BV) pigments have been a huge success. They derive their dynamic power from their excellent properties in application and their competitive price to performance to ratio. Compared to P.Y. 83 and/or complex inorganic colour pigments (CICP) bismuth vanadates may be initially costlier but have been found to carry a significantly higher tinging strength and much cleaner shade. They dominate the bright yellow end of the colour spectrum and have shown to be a colour evaluators' first choice to replace leaded pigments, often at a 1:1 ratio in existing formulae.
Global demand for BV is estimated to be around 3000t/yr of which 90% is used in the coating industry (eg automotive, decorative, OEM and industrial). BV's use in powder coating and coil coating markets is increasing rapidly. To date, most of the developmental work has focused on bringing out BV with more specialised/customised properties for several applications to meet customer demands. For the longer term, R&D is concentrating on issues such as higher stability with heat and chemically aggressive resins.
Brufasol Yellow AL 2300, 30 and 40, produced by Bruchsaler Farbenfabrik GmbH & Co KG in Bruchsal, Germany, are brillant greenish to reddish yellow bismuth vanadates pigments. They exhibit good hiding power, tinting strength, temperature stability and the highest levels of weather resistance. Most importantly, BV's are environmentally-friendly alternatives to lead chromate pigments.Note de contenu : - Bismuth Vanadates in production

Vanadate de bismuthIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This proper dispersion stabilisation of pigments is not only important for the final properties of a coating, it also helps pigments to be used as efficiently as possible. Peak performance on a broad range of pigments can be achieved using a dual-dispersant approach. Two complementary dispersants were each designed to have an optimum performance with a selected group of pigments and at the same time to guarantee inter-compatibility. Vanadate de bismuthIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : How bismuth vanadates, covering the green shade yellow spectrum, are gaining importance on the market to produce lead-free, durable exterior powder coatings.
The introduction of one of the non-toxic alternative crosslinking agents trimellictic acid triglycidylester (Araldite PT 912 - hunstman) to replace TGIC in polyester powder has triggered a technical problem as regards to the use of bismuth vanadates.
If such a system is pigmented with classical bismuth vanadates, the film properties of the thermosetting powder coating cross-linked with Araldite PT 912 start to get impaired at elevated baking temperatures above 200°C and extended baking time.
This presentation will deal with facts about the performance of bismuth vanadates in a polyester/araldite PT 912 system, their physical and chemical characteristics, surface-modifications in order to highlight the need of designing and developing a suitable, new generation of pigments with no impact on crosslinking density while over-baking.Note de contenu : - VISUALISATION OF THE PROBLEM : Baking conditions
