Règlements de sécuritéIndex. décimale : 620.11 Matériaux (propriétés, résistance) Résumé : In various countries, including France, the regulations concerning buildings and civil engineering structures contain recommendations aimed at achieving acceptable seismic performance ; that is, the structures designed must withstand minor earthquakes without damage, moderate earthquakes with minimum non-structural damage and major earthquakes without collapsing. The seismic recommendations proposed in building regulations were thus updated over the years to achieve this aim.
VitrageIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Aerogels due to its nano-sized porous structure possess extremely low density (~0.003 g/cm3)10mW/mK) and solids with high porosity very low conductivity (~10mW/mK). Silica aerogel namely, has found profound interest among researchers and has been extensively studied for their thermal, mechanical and hydrophobic properties. They have 90% porosity with a thermal conductivity lower than that of air, and this makes silica aerogel an important media for conceptualising it as a highly insulating material. The present review focuses the various work done on silica aerogel based coatings and the functionality of silica aerogel as an insulating material.
Silicones are a key component of many products today, from personal care to electronics due to their versatile and multi-functional product benefits. Coating is one well-know application for silicones but the range of uses in this field is astounding. Silicones are used for protecting, preserving and restoring architecture as well as being an important material for new construction. This article will seek to explore these two pillars of silicones in architectural coatings - conservation and restoration and creative architecture in new construction.
Silicone polymers have unique properties bringing benefits to a wide variety of coating types, whether as additives or binders. They are used in solvent and water-borne systems, in radiation cured varnishes and powder coatings. They are used in varnishes for furniture, paints for houses, coatings for cars and inks for newpapers. The examples from application range from those where almost the entire coating consists of silicone materials to one where the silicone is present at less than half a percent. As well as bringing significant benefits to new constructions as adhesives, sealants and structural glazing, silicones are of major importance to renovation and restoration work.Note de contenu : - Conservation and restoration
