Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : Boosting colour strength is on the forefront of coating formulators’ and manufacturers’ minds. However, for many systems, improving colour performance has been a difficult task. Whether it is a ready-made dispersion or a fully formulated system, large adjustments to a formula can be unfeasible due to manufacturing, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or consumer restraints.
Borchers' technology allows for the post-addition of an additive to improve colour acceptance, colour strength or quality of a pigmented system. A simple addition of a colour booster or compatibiliser to the base will result in a stronger, cleaner and more chromatic colour, which can be seen in tints with a variety of difficult pigments. Additional benefits include a reduction or elimination of colour rub-out and improved compatibility of universal waterborne systems used in solventborne bases.Note de contenu : - Challenges with tinting systems

The performance of the coalescent was evaluated in terms of film formation quality and impact on final paint properties, compared to a commercially available petrochemical coalescent. Results demonstrated that it is possible to achieve better properties in terms of paint film quality with an optimised environmental profile using the newly developed bio-based coalescent.

Revêtements en phase aqueuse -- Additifs:Peinture en phase aqueuse -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Alkanolamines, such as 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP) and 2-amino-2-ethyl-1,3-propanediol (AEPD), are commonly used as key stabilising agents in a wide range of water-borne paint formulations. Not all alkanolamines are equivalent but AMP and AEPD can be used to improve the pigment particle size distribution and exploit synergistic effects with common dispersing agents. Optimising the formulation in this way has the potential to reduce raw material costs while improving paint performance. Note de contenu : - AMP adsorption linked to particle surface
- Improving TiO2 dispersion for best light scattering efficiency
- AEPD reduces the need for dispersing agents
- Low concentrations minimise common side effects
- Amino alcohols boost pigment efficiency

Revêtements en phase aqueuse -- Additifs:Peinture en phase aqueuse -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : There is an increase in demand of eco-friendly biocides in the world due to increase in awareness about eco¬friendly products. Eco-friendly products are consisting of ingredients which are not harmfui to environment, like animais, soif, microbiological ecosystem, plants, aquatic animais & plants etc. Same is applied to paints. Paint contains mainly two components which are harmfu 1 to environment, biocides & Volatile Organic Compounds. VOC can be replaced by higher boiling point solvents. But in case of biocides it is seen that eco-friendly biocides are not as effective as harmful biocides at same concentration. Some of them are very sensitive to pH & temperature fluctuations (as low as 40° C & pH 8), which renders paint unprotected alter a particular time period. Also a tolerance & resistance is observed in microbes for few green biocides. At least 15 to 20 years time period is required to invent, to study & to register new molecule for different uses. So there is need of finding ways, alternatives & implementing stringent hygiene guidelines & awareness in view of introducing Eco-friendly biocides.
