Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The efficiency of coating systems in the protection of metallic substrates depends fundamentally, in relation with formulation variables, on the type and content of corrosion-inhibitive pigment, the characteristics of the film forming material and the pigment/binder ratio. In this study, chromium (VI) tannates with several metal contents in their composition were used as inhibitive pigments in anticorrosive paints. The mentioned metallic tannates were prepared at laboratory scale under controlled operative conditions. Some properties of chromium tannates as well as the protective efficiency of anticorrosive paints formulated with the quoted inhibitors were assessed in laboratory tests. Mica, kaolin, and synthetic calcium silicate were used as extenders. Several series of coatings were designed and manufactured employing the following binders: 20 cP chlorinated rubber, a vinyl copolymer, an unsaturated polymer, or an epoxy resin. A simultaneous analysis of the experimental data was performed taking into account that the best performance is attained at pigment volume concentration (PVC) values equal to or slightly lower than the critical one (CPVC). Results indicate that for every lamellar zinc primer, it is possible to select an extender of high oil absorption as the spacer of the zinc particles attaining both very good blistering resistance and anticorrosive performance. Giudice, Auteur Année de publication : 1998 Article en page(s) : p. 52-59 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The objective of this paper was to study the influence of some formulation variables of phosphorous-based intumescent coatings, formulated and manufactured for this experiment, on fire-retardant properties. Chlorinated rubber coatings based on ammonium polyphosphate, pentaerythritol, melamine, chlorinated paraffin and an endothermic filler showed very high performance after ageing. The performance of any intumescent coating depends on the ability to maintain their physical properties during exposure to humidity or water. Note de contenu : - Introduction
