The critical micelle concentration, emulsifying performance, emulsifying power, wettability, and other properties of emulsifiers with different polyether chain lengths, alkyl chain lengths, and emulsions were carefully investigated. The result discloses that AESAC13-P10 features superior performance among these emulsifiers. The color performance and water resistance of the paint prepared with AEASC13-P10 were obviously better than nonreactive emulsifier E-1310SA. In current market conditions, cost savings and product innovation are critical issues. In this article, an artificial neural network, of the feed forward type, was trained using as inputs key properties of titanium dioxide and two formulation parameters (pigment volume concentration and titanium dioxide content) for a water-based architectural coating. The outputs of this research were spread rate, color (L*, a*, b*) and tinting strength. Test data were used to check the accuracy of the model, demonstrating the viability of paint properties prediction related to the properties of the titanium dioxide formulation with high correlation (>95%).

Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The fluorinated cationic acrylic latex was prepared successfully via semi-continuous seeded emulsion polymerisation of butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate and hexafluorobutylmethacrylate in water phase initiated with 2,2'azobis (2. methyl propion amidine)dihydrochloride and emulsified with the aid of mixed surfactants of cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide and polyethylene glocolmono-nonylphenylether. The structure of the resultant latex is confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy spectrum and differentiel scanning calorimetry. Facture, which have an effect on the emulsion polymerisation and properties of latex, are investigated in détail. The conversion of mixed monomers is high and the coagulation percentage is less when the reaultant latex is prepered under the folIowing condition : the amount of emulsifier is 3% ; the amount of initiator is 0.8% : the content of the fluorinated monomer is 4%. In this case, the average particle size of latex is smallest. ln addition, in comparison with the latex prepared without the fluorinated monomers, the hydrophobicity of the resultant latex film is clearly improved.
