Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Around 60-70% of the world’s population is estimated to have some form of texture in their hair, yet this segment is still not well understood or catered for. DSM-Firmenich has been working with a specialist textured hair consultant and end consumers to develop solutions that can address this texture gap. Note de contenu : - Typical challenges for consumers with textured hair

Tests cutanésIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : In the coming years, beauty biotechnology is likely to gain in importance, driven by concerns, particularly among younger generations, about the environment and limited natural resources. To this end, DSM is launching a new cosmetic grade of PDO (1.3-Propanediol) in partnership with the biochemistry company METEX NØØVISTA. The product, TILAMAR® PDO with NØØVISTAâ„¢, has a fully sustainable production process and its multifunctional properties and much in-demand skin microbiome friendliness have been demonstrated in clinical studies which are described in this article. It therefore offers manufacturers a way to reduce the complexity of their cosmetics formulations to meet the growing consumer demand for sustainable but high-performance personal care products that are also seen as a clean option. Note de contenu : - What the conscious beauty trend means for the personal care industry
- The case for lab-grown personal care ingredients

shampooingsIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Sustained, targeted research by the DSM Materials Science centre and DSM Personal Care & Aroma Ingredients led to the creation of a novel hyper-branched polymer, Polyquaternium-110 (INCI). This hair care polymer has demonstrated outstanding volume boost combined with excellent care benefits. Moreover, it can be added easily to existing shampoo formulations. A structural transformation during hair drying enables the dual benefits. The mechanism of deposition of the polymer, via coacervate formation, gives rise to lamellar structures that provide lubricant effects for excellent wet combing. On drying these lamellar structures transform into hexagonal structures which provide the volume boost many consumers desire.
The claimed benefits have been substantiated by instrumental
tests and confirmed by hairdresser assessments.Note de contenu : - Technology transfer enabled targeted search
- Coacervate technology ensures the polymer deposition
- Dual benefits delivered through structural transformation
- Volume performance tests confirm visible increase in volume without compromising on care properties

shampooingsIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Scalp conditions such as itchiness and flaking are key concerns for consumers. This is stimulating interest in the role skin care ingredients could play in treating such symptoms if added to hair and scalp care products. Recent in vivo studies showed how our proven, 100% natural, moisturising skin active Saccharide isomerate (commercial name PENTAVITIN®) reduces two conditions associated with an oily and flaking scalp – increased transepidermal water loss and sebum secretion [2]. To support our findings further, we have conducted a new, proof-of-concept in-vivo study. In this study, in collaboration with our partners
TRI Princeton and Newtone Technologies, we trialled pioneering, scalp colour 3D mapping technology to visualise changes in scalp sebum levels and hydration following treatment with a shampoo containing Saccharide isomerate. Here, we present key data from our clinical study and full details of our 3D scalp mapping approach and proof-of-concept study. We also include visualisations of the improvements observed in scalp sebum and scalp hydration levels after seven days’ frequent use of a shampoo formulation containing 0.5% Saccharide isomerate.Note de contenu : - Would scalp skin benefit from similar treatments to facial skin ?
