Tannage Résumé : In order to investigate a new clean and chromium-free tanning method, an epoxy-modified starch (SCT) tanning agent was prepared from natural corn starch degradation products and we have examined its combined tanning effect with aluminum salts. The results showed that when the offer of SCT tanning agent was 8% of the mass of pickled sheep, and the offer of aluminum salt was 6%, at a tanning pH of 4.0, the shrinkage temperature (Ts) of crust leather could reach 79.8°C. In this situation, the SCT tanning agent and aluminum salt tanning agent cross-linked with the collagen.
After the combination of SCT tanning agent and aluminum salt, the tensile strength of the leather reached 26.27MPa, the tear strength was 37.52N/mm, and the elongation at break was 70.07%, which was obviously better than that of the leather tanned with SCT alone. Moreover, the leathers tanned with SCT and aluminum salts showed good elution resistance to different chemical media, avoiding the fading defects caused when using aluminum tanning alone.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL SECTION : Materials - Methods - Characterisation and property testing

SurfactantsIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A fatliquor is an indispensable agent for leather, giving softness, fullness and elasticity. A quaternary ammonium salt cationic surfactant (cetyl-dimethyl-(3-methacrylamide) propyl bromide (DMPC16)) was synthesised from N-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) methacrylamide (DMAPMA) and hexadecane bromide by nucleophilic substitution reaction. The structure and properties of quaternary ammonium cationic surfactant were characterised by FTIR, 1H-NMR, elemental analyser, TGA and surface tension analyser. Further, it was applied in the fatliquoring process of wet-white (Clariant EasyWhiteTan F-90 tanning system to test the physical and mechanical properties, softness, air permeability and absorptivity of the fatliquoring leather. The results showed that quaternary ammonium salt cationic surfactant was successfully prepared, and its surface tension was 31.87mN/m. The application tests showed that the absorption rate of fatliquor reached 97.8%. At the same time, the softness and physical and mechanical properties of the treated leather were improved, including softness increased by 109%, tensile strength increased by 17.2%, tear strength increased by 50.1%, and air permeability increased by 891.21L/(cm2.h). The results showed that quaternary ammonium cationic surfactant had good fatliquoring properties in F-90 tanning system, which can improve the softness, tensile strength and tear strength of leather. Wet-white (tannage)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : In view of the environmental pollution caused by chrome tanning in current tanning processes, the development of chrome-free ecological leather manufacturing technology is an important direction for the development of the leather industry. However, the strong negative charge of chrome-free tanned leather leads to the reduction of binding sites of most anionic dyeing and finishing materials, resulting in colour fading and poor handle of the finished leather. Therefore, this paper mainly uses Nvinylimidazole, bromodecan and dimethylaminoethyl acrylate as raw materials to synthesise a ionic liquid-based amphiphilic polymer surfactant through free radical polymerisation and quaternisation and then, uses it in the fatliquoring process of a chrome-free non-metallic tanned green leather. The structure and morphology of the fatliquored wet-white leather were studied by SEM and the ultra depth of a field microscope, and the softness and physical and mechanical properties of the fatliquored leather were tested. The results showed that the collagen fibres were loosely distributed and the gap between the collagen fibres was larger after fatliquoring, and the softness and physical and mechanical properties of the fatliquored leather were improved.
