Résumé : |
The official ALCA method for fatliquor extraction from leather was compared to the Küntzel modification of the Koppenhoeffer and Retzsch method and to a method using a mixed solvent in the Soxhlet extractor.
As currently practiced, the official method, which uses chloroform in the Soxh-let, extracts most of the fatliquor but leaves some of the ionic portion in the sample.
Two methods, which extract virtually all the fatliquor from the sample, are de-scribed. This study indicates that these fatliquors are not chemically bonded to leather. |

- Table 2 : Determination of the reliability of the küntzel method used to extract total fatliquors
- Table 3 : Fatliquor content of different samples ofleather determined by three methods
- Table 4 : Fatliquor content of various samples of garda leather extracted first with n-hexane and then with the mixed solvent
- Table 5 : Percent fatliquor indifferent samples of leathers determined by the official method, the Küntzel metod, and the mixed-solvent method |
