Résumé : |
A newly developed method will make it possible to detect defects in fiber-reinforced plastic structures over large areas without contact and in a matter of seconds. The method uses what is known as local defect resonance: Defects such as impact damages have a specific resonant frequency that oscillate with a higher amplitude compared to the surrounding area. This local oscillation can be located within seconds using an advanced microphone system. |

- 72 microphones and a camera : How the method works
- A typical test setup
- Conclusion : Fast and cheap aleternative for touch-sensitive parts
- Fig. 1 : The left picture shows the measurement setup for vibration characterization of a flat-bottom hole plate by using a laser Doppler vibrometer. The right side shows the test result (RMS): The thinner the residual wall thickness, the higher the measured vibration speed

- Fig. 3 : Test result: In the center, the impact damage is clearly visible. The signal on the right side is from the vacuum shaker
