Produits hydratants
Tamarin (fruit) et constituantsIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Xilogel is a Tamarindus indica polysaccharide endowed with remarkable filming and hydrating properties. It has been extremely well characterised as a branched high molecular weight (ca 650,000 Da) xyloglucan, capable of forming viscous gels with an excellent sensory feeling. Preliminary evidence of film formation, improvement of skin elasticity, amelioration of trans-epidermal water loss and micro-roughness reduction was obtained. Capitalising on these observations, we have investigated the cosmetic potential of Xilogel for its short and long term moisturising effect, anti-ageing activity, elasticising and skin densifying properties on 20 volunteers; it has been compared to the challenging positive reference sodium hyaluronate (1.1 MioDa to 1.8 MioDa). In addition to this, further evaluations have been carried out in vitro on senescent cells, validating Xilogel as an inhibitor of p-galactosidase (typically overexpressed in aged keratinocytes) and an improver of filaggrin synthesis, a protein crucial in maintaining skin hydration. Produits antisolairesIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The investigated C. asiatica-purified extract (CentevitaTM) has shown anti-ageing topical efficacy acting on free radical-induced oxidative stress, cytokine-induced skin inflammaging, whereas no statistical significance was achieved in the SCB count.
As per the MDA assay, although the observed reduction of the formation of MDA was quite remarkable, it has shown no statistical significance due to the damage which occurred to one of the control samples. It would be necessary to repeat the MDA assay, if possible with a higher sample numerosity, in order to correctly define the free radical scavenging properties of the extract.
On the other side, the extract has shown a clear prevention of the phenomenon of glycation, targeting a pleiotropic and complementary way the biochemical and cellular bases of skin ageing. Although several publications confirm the biological activity of C. asiatica compounds,1517 the underlying mechanisms involved in the skin physiological effects are yet not fully understood even if gene expression changes have been reported in human fibroblasts.
The clinical evaluations have further confirmed the observed in vitro properties. Additional investigations are needed to further confirm the observed results as well as elucidate the molecular mechanisms at the base of the biological activity.Note de contenu : - Human skin explants
