Etude in vivoIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The new patented foour-in-one blend, Syn-Eye, combines four bioactive ingredients to a multifunctional eye care formulation. It offers a science-based approach to fight against eye region skin ageing - in particular the appearance of lines and wrinkles and dark circles. The first significant effects were observed after 7 days'treatment. The developed Syn-Eye blend showed better study results compared to the competitive blenchmark. CosmétiquesIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The expression of the eyes determines the impression of someone's face. For the appearance, many skin characteristics play a role. Low skin density, weak hydrolipid film, lack of drainage fonction and strong muscular stress are the main factors. The facial area around the eyes consists of upper and lower eyelid. Between both lids is the palpebral fissure. The skin of the eyelids and around the eyes is different compared to facial or body skin. It is thinner, more sensitive and can dry out easily.
The muscles around the eyes regularly open and close the eyelid. This blinking protects and moistens the eye, In addition, these muscles are responsible for mimic and expression of the eye region. All eye muscles are surrounded by connective tissue with different structure. Part of this surrounding tissue consists of collagen and elastic fibers, which form only a delicate connective tissue sheath. In this part of the face, there are only few sebaceous and sweat glands resulting in a weak hydrolipid film, The lack of drainage fonction can lead to puffiness and bags under the eyes. This swelling recedes when the tissue fluid is removed via the lymphatic and blond streams.
The eye region or periorbital area is very sensitive. Traces of fatigue, exhaustion, stress, aging and incorrect skin care show quickly in this region, for example as wrinkles and fine lines, dark circles, puffiness. Over time the area appears tired, less energetic and ageing effects show. The periorbital region needs special skin care to work against these symptoms.Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=26756

StatistiqueIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Skin is a multifunctional organ but, alongside every other organ system, is subject to both intrinsic and extrinsic aging. Whilst both ageing processes are associated with phenotypic changes in cutaneous cells, the major functional manifestations of ageing occur as a consequence of structural and compositional remodeling of normally long-lived dermal extracellular matrix proteins, flattened dermal-epidermal junction (DEJ), and weaker epidermal function. Many researchers revealed that dermal fibroblast which mainly synthesis the collagen and elastin in dermis, while the epidermal keratinocyte and DEJ are lesser described, especially for peptides. A new palmitoyl oligopeptide complex PTC, which consists of hydrolyzed collagen and oligopeptide, was identified in both keratinocyte and fibroblast, and finally verified in human skin. All data suggest PTC had a 3D theory against skin aging: from epidermal keratinocyte to dermal fibroblast, especially containing the structural proteins of DEJ. Titre : The truth on looking young the future of anti-ageing Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Chris Smith, Auteur Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : p. 10-12 Note générale : Bibliogr.

MycosporineIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : In July 2012, BBC2 Horizon broadcasted a documentary called 'The truth about looking young. It was presented by consultant plastic surgeon, Dr. Rozina Ali, and the aim of the programme was to investigate some of the key developments in anti-ageing research and discuss how certain advances are changing the way we think about skin ageing.
This article explores some of the key points that were discussed in the programme. Overall considering the programme was designed and pitched for public consumption, it was very well delivered and communicated points in a way that interested everyone from those with little or no knowledge of anti-ageing pathways through to those of use with knowledge in this area.
The two key subjects that caught the eye from the programme were the powerful attributes of natural UV filters 'mycosporine-like amino acids' and research into cell-to-cell communication through 'glycobiology'.Note de contenu : - Mycosporine-like amino acids (MAAs) - the future of sun protection in a pill ?

Protéine klothoIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The klotho gene was identified for the first time in 1997 in mice.i Its mutation causes a premature apparition of all the traditional signs of ageing and leads to premature death. On the other hand, when it is overexpressed, this gene leads to a 20% to 30% increase in mice lifespan. The skin of klotho-deficient mice is thin and atrophic. Histological examination shows reduced number of hair follicles and reduced thickness of the dermal and epidermal layers.
The klotho protein is available in two forms : the transmembrane form and the secreted forme which have distinct functions but can collectively affect ageing processes. Secreted klotho is involved in a large number of signalling pathways leading to the re-establishment of optimal cellular function, among them it has been suggested that klotho may inhibit the insulin/IGF-1 signalling pathway (Fig. 2) and thus participate in the suppression of oxidative stress via Forkhead box (FOXO). FOXOs up-regulate expression of multiple genes, including antioxidant enzymes such as catalase. These FOXO are negatively regulated by insulin/IGF-1 signalling. Indeed, activation of insulin/IGF-1 signalling increases activity of a serine-threonine kinase Akt, which in turn phosphorylates FOXOs. Phosphorylated FOXOs are excluded from the nucleus and are unable to function as transcription factors. By inhibiting the insulin/IGF-1 signalling pathway, klotho down-regulate AKT and promote the predominance of the unphosporylated FOXOs.
Codif International laboratories have demonstrated a direct link between klotho expression and fibroblast ageing (Fig. 3). The decrease in klotho expression starts very early during the ageing process : from roughly 30 years. Then its expression gradually decreases with fibroblast ageing. Increasing klotho synthesis in the fibroblasts thus represents a new strategy to combat skin ageing.
We demonstrate here the capacity of a liposoluble extract of Tears of Chios (Fig. 1): Lakesis, to up-regulate klotho synthesis in ageing fibroblasts for global anti-ageing applications.Note de contenu : - Activation of youth proteins and antioxidant enzymes
