The development of more environmental friendly coating systems presents new challenges to the manufacturers of speciality chemicals and additives for coatings. New matting agents designed to meet the specific challenges provided by waterborne, high-solids and, to some extent UV curing systems have been commercialised in recent years. However, there is a continuiting demand for new, improved products and development programmes are ongoing. It is expected that calcium modified silica gel pigment technology will be turned to more and more as the preferred non-toxic method of corrosion control in all types of coatings, as the desire to couple high anti-corrosive performance with environmental awareness intensifies.Note de contenu : - Addition levels

vision des couleursIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Colour plays an important part in consumer choice so it is vital that manufacturers get the way a product looks right.
How would you describe the colour of a rose? Would you say it's yellow, sort of a lemon yellow or maybe a bright canary yellow? Your perception and interpretation of colour are highly subjective. Eye fatigue, age and other physiological factors can influence your colour perception. But even without such physical considerations, each observer interprets colour based on personal references. Each person also verbally defines an object's colour differently. As a result, objectively communicating a particular colour to someone without some type of standard is difficult. There also must be a way to compare one colour to the next with accuracy. The solution is a measuring instrument that explicitly identifies a colour. That is, an instrument that differentiates a colour from all others and assigns it a numeric value.Note de contenu : - Ways to measure colour

SurfactantsIndex. décimale : 535.6 Couleur Résumé : The need to meet a raft of European legislation has fuelled a surge in demand for aqueous flexo printed paper and packaging materials which comply, writes by the author.
With consumers becoming increasingly environmentally aware and legislation becoming ever more stringent, the envirobment is slowly creeping up the business agenda. Europe is leading the way and setting a benchmark for the rest of the world, having serious implications for the majority of companies within the region. The inks market is no exception to this with regulations on health, safety and the environment becoming increasingly strict. This is with particular reference to legislation restricting Volative Organic Content (VOC) emissions to the atmosphere and the restriction of heavy metals content of coloured or printed packaging (CONEG regulations and European Directive 94/62/EC 1994). The need for ink markers to use colourants that meet these purity requirements has fuelled a surge in demand for aqueous flexo printed paper and packaging materials which comply. Artizan AF is a range of a high strength, ultramarine dispersions that have been developed specifically to cope with the high demands of the printing industry and are aimed directly at the aqueous flexographic ink market. The range consists of two products, Artizan AF-S, surfactant based allowing freedom of formulation and wide compatibility, and Artizan AF-R, acrylic resin based making it easy to incorporate and excellent to transfer. Table 1 shows the main differences between the two dispersions.Note de contenu : - Vibrant colours
