Tannage Résumé : A new compound, N-Thioureidopyromellitamic acid, has been synthesized from pyromellitic dianhydride and thiosemicarbazide, and used in pretanning along with glyoxal to improve chromium uptake. The results show that the pretanned pelt has a higher shrink temperature than conventionally processed pelt and subsequent chrome tanning results in a significant increase in chromium uptake, and thus the chrome offer in conventional chrome tanning can be reduced in large amounts. Furthermore, because of higher shrink temperature of the pretanned pelt, the initial temperature of two stage chrome tanning is raised and thus a much higher exhaustion of chromium is obtained at the elevated tanning temperature. The handle and the physical properties of pretanned crust leather are not much different from those of crust leather made from pelts that were not pretanned. Tannage Résumé : A new pretanning agent (HTPA) for high exhaustion chrome tannage 2,4-di-(1-hydroxymethyl-1, 2, 4-triazole-5-thione)-1,5-phthalic acid and 2,5-di-(1-hydroxymethyl-1, 2, 4-triazole-5-thione) -1,4-phthalic acid, has been synthesized from pyromellitic dianhydride and thiosemicarbazide. Its reaction with pelts and its effect on chrome uptake have been studied by applying it to delimed sheepskins and goatskins. The results show that HTPA reacts mainly with the amino groups in collagen to form crosslinks and that the reaction depends on the pH, temperature, time and amount of HTPA. Pelt pretanned with HTPA possesses a higher shrinkage temperature than control pelts. Subsequent chrome tanning results in a significant increase in chromium uptake, thus the chrome offer in conventional chrome tanning can be reduced significantly. The handle and the physical properties of pretanned crust leather are not too different from those of control crust leather.
Tannage Résumé : The following paper provides an overview of a different approach to tanning.
The technique is managed in the 'non-swelling' pH zone, and thus eliminates the need for salt within the conventional acid pickle. The fibre stabilisation provided—somewhat similar to a pretannage with glutaraldehyde—allows strong leather characteristics, such as those provided by conventional chrome tannage, to be developed within a main tanning or retanning stage.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AydAqqHdpDC8GItMb04J5q2_oiOfKgCE/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=32493

Titre : New tanning process in a water immiscible organic solvent medium : use of chrome tanning materials with automatic basification Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Véronique Chagne, Auteur ; Françoise Silvestre, Auteur ; Antoine Gaset, Auteur Année de publication : 1993 Article en page(s) : p. 427-439 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : Studies carried out with a view to reducing mineral pollution linked to chrome presence in tannery effluent helped enhance float exhaustion, but chrome contents in wastewaters remained greater than those required by environmental legislation. Our tanning process, in a water-immiscible organic solvent, led to a total exhaustion during the tanning process and unfixed chrome contents in the aqueous effluents of the subsequent operations were considerably reduced. The use of tanning materials with automatic basification: Baychrom products (in powder form from Bayer) have been the subject of this paper in an attempt to obtain a maximal chrome fixation and good quality leather.
